i started trying to figure out how to put dual pumps in the stock housing but that wasn't happening without major hacking. since it was my only housing i had i started looking for alternatives so i decided to build my own.

the housing cost me about 10 bux and 2 days to make, i still need to wire it.

here's what i started with but this ended up not working well due to return line placement.

the housing isn't all that thick it was the thickest metal i could find at the local tractor supply company. i just cut a circle to match the upper piece and welded a support rod to it, then welded the inner ring piece for the gasket, test fit to make sure it sealed ok then started on the feed lines. they are 3/8th brake line i bought 3/8th brake unions and ordered 3/8th flare to 6 an fittings from summit. the housing cost me around 10 bux and the fittings cost around 15 total for that part.

(ignore the twisted screens the pumps weren't secured yet for this pic)

after about a days work (i'm not much for planning things out) i realized i had no room for wiring or a return line. soooooo i started over

the two 45 degree 6an hose ends clear the back seat with no modification following the factory feed lines. the "y" block is a BG (barry grant) fuel block i got from jegs for around 30 bux and it is 3/8th NPT, it comes with a pressure tap source that needs to be plugged (i see no need to put a gauge back there) the lines are 6 an then 3/8 to 6an 45 degree fittings for inlefts with a 3/8th to 8 an and 8 an line from then on.

i kept the float for street car use, and i kept the gauge light crap just so i didnt' have to cut it apart. the return line is 3/8th and the vent is 1/4 brake line, i'll be using the factory feed hard line as a larger return line so i dont' have to run another line under tha car i'll use the existing one which i think is 5/16ths

everything is soldered with plumbing solder and leak tested. here's a good shot of the flare to an fittings from summit.

here's what i have so far, all the lines (not cut to length) and the filter i will be using (caution this filter is over a foot long) everything is 8an from the y block up including the rail. i will be using a magnafuel fuel pressure regulator as i was not impressed with the aeromotive one i had been using in the past.

questions, comments, personal experiences......for reference i'm planning on an fp3065 for the setup at the moment.

hmmm.... to all the people worried about fuel pressure at idle being to high, couldnt you just activate the second pump via a hobbs switch at a certain PSI?

wanna make me one for a 1g? ;)

from what i was reading above, even with an aftermarket fpr, people were having trouble keeping their fuel pressure low at idle. thats why i threw out that suggestion.

they also weren't using a regulator as big as mine either

Hey guys, someone just pointed me to this thread.

The twin pump photos on my site are for a 2g fwd. I really had no plans to produce these as this was done for a friend(RIP). I've received a good 30 e-mails recently asking for these so I'm going to build them. I'm going to do some sketches this weekend to come up with a more modular design and will hopefully have something to send to my machinist next week.

What I'd like to know is if you guys need this to work with the stock lines? I was not intending on building them this way but I'd like to know.

The EVO set-ups will come first and I'm not sure what I'll do after, probably the 2g fwd since it's almost done. So if you have a serious interest please e-mail me. Construction will be entirely of aluminum and come with all the necessary hoopla.

i would def be interested in 1 for a 1g awd. if i went with a dual pump setup, id assume re-do the fuel lines with at least -6an.

does the 2g fwd have a bolt that gets in the way of the 2nd pump in the baffel in the tank?

Email sent about the 2G FWD.

Thanks!

bluemeanietsi can you reppost the pics of the dual set for your 2gawd dual pump set up.. am looking to dp that set up soon since i am in need of more fuel... pm me for the pics or email to me thanks......

What's up guys and Gals?
I am interested in installing two walbro 255hhp fuel pumps in my car. I am having some problems doing it, and finding a bracket that will hold two pumps in the stock fuel cell. I am looking for answers. Help me out

Thanks

If you aren't going to fill out your vehicle profile then we can't help you...Unless you are making UBER horsepower (900+) there is no need other than to rape you of any gas milage you have left. I don't even know how you would do that because then you would put a second fuel rail on the car and hook that up to 2 injectors. I can see using a 255 and then having an electric inline one to relay the fuel but dual 255's is just a waste of time.

***PS. My roommate JessesTalon thinks you are a retard***

The reason there is not more information about THIS car, is because this car is new to me. My last car was stolen a couple of months ago, and I am starting a new project. In my last project, I was about to out run the 255hp fuel pump that was in the tank. So, I was thinking about trying to usetwo fuel pumps, instead of an aeromotive external fuel pump.
By the way, I will be making over 750 to the wheels. :thumb:

"Dang, I want one of those. I just got a gas tank. Bugger."

Alright Defiant! I have a stock fuel tank also. :) Has no one ever done this? I saw one other person on this website doing something ike this, but His pics were no longer there.

Hey guys, I'm exploring the possibility of installing 2 walbro 255 pumps inside my 93 GSX tank, and I would likew to get some feedback from you guys, anybody that has done this or anybody that has any cool ideas!
If you have any pictures, please post them below!:dsm:
Lui.

I found this drawing on www.shearerfabrications.com, pretty cool!

Haven't seen it done of a 1G. But a guy I know used to have two Walboro's on his 2G. I've seen people put duel in tank pumps in mustangs and other such cars before and it looks like that's the basic idea you got there. Are you not getting enough fuel out of your single Walboro or someting?

probably because he is making some serious power, and he is daily driving it. Either way, the custom fabrication that goes into a fuel cell and external pump can be more annoying than just using the existing system and having two pumps....

I think its sweet and if this project turns into a real thing, please keep us updated

Exactly my point, just want to have enoug fuel up front!
I will be runing 2 pumps not to max out the fuel system......
Thanks.

The thing you have to worry about with 2 pumps as opposed to one BIG pump is, what happens if one pump goes down?

You go crazy lean from not enough fuel and chunk a motor. This is a big topic on the 3Si forums. People try both methods and most of the time, the dual pumps ends up flawed.

Check out Buschur's site in the fuel section. He has a modified 255 to push more fuel, or there's always there aeromotive 1k (or something rediculous) pump.
