Alright guys, this is my first time owning a DSM. i got a 2g and im having issues with the car stuttering at around 2500rpm-3000rpm. I talked to a friend and he suggested changing the plug, wires, and coil. I did the first 2 along with an oil and oil filter change. The car runs smooth up til that specified rpm range then its starts stuttering. Another friend suggested maybe its the wastegate (stock internal), he said that normally you should be able to push the actuator arm manually and have the wastegate valve open. I tried pushing it and it takes quite a bit of strength. I'm extremely new with DSM's and also turbo's so any help or suggestions will be very appreciated.

Thanks!!

ok, im plannin on doing a boost leak test soon, but i want to tighten down the couplers first to see if that helps. now, if i remove the couplers do i have to worry about anything spilling out (oil, coolant, etc.) im really new to the turbo scene so i dont know exactly what happens when you take the assembly apart.....and damm those couplers are expensive!!

There shouldn't be any fluids in your intake. You'll probably have a film of oil, maybe a few drops would come out.

To do the boost leak test, you only need to pull the intake pipe off of the turbo compressor inlet and move it enough out of the way that you can clamp the boost leak tester on the inlet instead. Unless you're fixing something, you shouldn't take anything else off except maybe the PCV valve to check if it's leaking.

when i accidentally switched the plug wires on my honda it was causing misfires that resembled wuts happenin to my 2g now, but i know for a fact that my wires arent crossed cause it idles and runs fine up til 2500, they are also new plugs and wires.

Did you install the new plugs? What did you gap them to? If they're gapped too large, when you hit boost, they can start missing. Gap should be 0.028-0.30.

ahhhh...ok, the plugs i got are bosch plugs, just basic plugs nothing fancy...the guy at autozone told me to gap them to .044....maybe thats why...hmmm..ok let me re-gap them unless they are gapped ok? does it matter what type of plugs they are to determine the gap size?

OMG! 0.044!! That's a lot of gap. What type of plugs did you get? You should be running NGK BPR6ES plugs gapped to 0.028-0.030. Folks around here don't recommend running a hotter or cooler plug on stock or even moderately high boost. The NGKs work great when properly gapped. If you start turning up the boost, keep in mind that you may need to start decreasing your plug gaps. Cramming more fuel-air mix into the cylinders makes it harder for the spark to jump (more insulation crammed in that gap), so you need to decrease the gap.

ya...thats wut autozone and the bosch website recommended....044, i'm running just basic bosch plugs, copper core....i regapped those to the specs you had mentioned but haven't had a chance to run the car ### my battery's dead... ....so ngk's are the way to go then?? i figured that much since im runnin them in my honda....wut a DSM noob!!

alright guys, fixed the problem....the plugs were gapped to high so i regapped them to .028-.030 and that solved the stuttering....thanks for all the help and suggestions, now i can move on to fine tuning the engine...about time!! thanks again!!!

Ok so im having a similar problem, i think it might be my wastegate aculator, i dont belive its working properly, the cars building boost i think, but around 3500 rs the car seems to hae a rev limiter, doesnt want to rev any higher, im thinking maybe fuel cut, but not sure..any ideas>?

have you tried a boost leak test?
