That is seriously retarded. Like what, 3,??? rpms of spool time possibly?

Lol, its huge. I bet its a highway monster.

yeah something sparked, looks like it scared the crap out of the guy

that's the biggest turbocharger I thinkI've ever seen, wow.

and I thought myt urbo was big heh.

Blew the head gasket.

They had to get into boost so progressively cause the thing was allegedly pumping around 80psi (as read on supraforums.com). If that was pushing 1200whp maxing the dyno, I don't even want to know what the actual numbers were LOL.

I want to know how they got it there, and where he plans on driving it. Why is the hood even there, he might as well just cut the hood in half and just use the drivers side. Then at least he could close it. How did they get it there? If they trailored it with the hood up, I would imagine the hood would just swing back and crack the windsheild, and I doubt they actually drove it to the dyno and said, HEY, LETS PUT THE HOOD ON!!!!!

hahahaha, it broke, toyotas reliable my ass, engine go kaboom. Looks like they should have spent some of their turbo money on a better headgasket/headstud combo rather than having a dyno queen. idiots...

Geesh, a little harsh arnt we? With the quest for power obviously comes destroyed everything. And dyno queen? so what? Tell me you wouldnt drive that car.

As for how they got it there, yea im as lost as everyone.

the turbo was probably bolted on there at whatever shop owns that dyno, and they were doing it for bragging rights and shits and giggles. maybe they had plans for internal work, and wanted to see how far they could push the envelope before it blew.

that spark almost looked like a piece of molten metal dropped from the manifold holding the turbo up in the air. looked as if you were welding a rod onto a pipe and went through the rod, and it was red hot from being welded and it sparks when it hits something.

cause i seriously doubt a head gasket makes sparks when it goes. if anything, just makes a big ol mess with oil and coolant and a loss of compression.

Good call with blowing the engine on purpose:thumb:

I just have visions of sucking up birds in that thingROFL ROFL ROFL

Wow. Might as well pull the motor and out in a jet engine out of a f-15. Sick I think I would have to delet the whole front end of my car to fit that turbo in there.

Perhaps you should get a bit more educated about a topic before running your mouth.

That was TPS that did that and it was for shits and giggles as well as testing purposes. http://tpswestpalm.com/

They said the car saw around 80 PSI when they let off. When you find a motor that runs on gas and can reliably hold 80PSI and make well over 1200 RWHP then you can comment. Until then keep your mouth closed and your ignorance will go unnoticed. If all that seems harsh to bad. You shouldn't comment on things you know nothing about especially in a negative light and using inults.

What is that common sense I see.

Errol said it blew a head gasket when the boost came on hard and hit around 80 PSI. Under that amoutn of pressure and heat crazy things can happen.

it comes and goes. you caught me on a good day

i stand corrected. pretty badass now that i think of it, it was probably the flamefront during the power stroke that was pressurized so much and still was exploding as it blew out of the gasket. whos errol btw?

Yeah, I'd be sticking my hand in there.

Advice: flak jacket. And, much, much more distance.

Some trucker's gonna be really pissed when he finds his turbo missing.

You did notice the Weld spindle mounts on the front didn't you? Thats not generally dyno queen gear.
no I did not notice, what are you talking about?

boostedinaz: your suprised someone said they don't see the point in blowing a motor just to see how much power it can hold for the fun of it. Think of the cars we drive, I can think of one person who did that, and he blew his 7 bolt at 450 whp when he had another engine ready to be dropped in once the 7 bolt blew. I was looking at it from a realistic point of view. What would the point of having a car you can't drive anywhere (due to visual obstructions) no matter how much power it makes. And as for blowing up an engine on purpose, Im guessing an engine that can handle 1200whp for two runs (since it blew on the third) isn't cheap. Its just not practical to smack a turbo that big onto any car because you can't use it for anything other than a piece of paper that says 12xx and a video of a car making a LOT of noise.

and the first sentence of my second paragraph was sarcasm, since toyota is known for being paranoid as shit and building their cars like none other.

and as for a car that can put down 1200 whp reliably, Im sure one of these bad boys could do it:
http://www.hennesseyperformance.com...uuZo&DoThis=Dodge+Viper+SRT10&ActionReq=Where
it says 800-900, but you can drive that daily and have somewhat like factory reliability. Im sure with some more money into the bottom end and some more lbs from those turbos and 1200 could be done.

anyways I though there were lots of supras running that much power (by lots I mean like over 10, since thats a lot of cars for that much power.)

thanks for flipping out over a comment on someone elses car, just because me and the owner don't see eye to eye.

He is refering to the wheels. Its drag car attire, or is that drag queen attire?:sneaky: ROFL

You are still not getting the point. If someone didn't step up and try something that has never been tried before we would still think that a car with a 20G is the fastest thing on the planet. The car is not meant to be street driven as it is a purpsoe built drag car and turbo sits to the passanger side of the car so there is no obstruction. The entire point of that dyno was to see what a huge turbo like that would do with 3.0 2JZ engine. It made crazy power and crazy boost. Now they know a few things they didn't know 20 minutes before that test. Perhaps now they can work with a headgasket company and come up with a stronger gasket, maybe they can work with ARP and get better headstuds to keep the head from lifting, and so on and so. So why the ignorant see that as a huge waste those that look at the whole picture can see what may come from being idiots as you put it.

Blowing a head gasket is not a big deal and since that shop work on Supra's I am sure they have a few head gaskets lying around. Playing safe will never get you to the next level and everyone that has tuned a car or run a shop for a living has blown up a car and motor more that once.

As far the the Viper thing goes, yeah they can make great power and be awesome cars the question is WTf does that have to do with anything in this thread?

Note:

The car didn't just MAKE 1200whp, the dyno couldn't read anything higher than that. The car maxed out the dyno, so it's possible it was making plenty more than that.

Boostedinaz - Why even bother correcting these newbs? I see you post and post, and correct, and correct (which is good, dont get me wrong, you are spreading knowledge) but dont you just get tired of it?

These kids will probaly never have a decent car or EVER make decent numbers and will probaly get out of the DSM/car game in the next few years, so why bother? More power to ya for doing it (you are a moderator after all) I just hate to see you slave away on the keyboard for some ignorant 16 year old who doesnt get what you are saying anyways.

And to the guy who has never seen a turbo that big : www.turbomustangs.com nuff said.

If you think a 3.0 with a big turbo is cool, try a stroked V8 with single 101-110 mm T6 flanged turbo's. That is a real mans turbo, LOL. Go to the featured rides section and see some stock looking Fox's and Sn95's that run in the 8.80's...there is a much bigger world out there than the all mighty supra.

And dont get me wrong, no supra hating here, I love them to death, there are just bigger fish up the food chain is all im saying.

My intention was not to create a discussion/arguement about it being stupid/other cars faster/etc.

I just found the video to be ridiculous, as I have never seen someone bolt a turbo like that onto a Supra, so I figured I'd share it.

With repetition anything can get boring and old, but it is what I signed up to do. I have a passion for cars and at this stage DSM's. I have done a few stupid things in my time and would have liked for someone to show what was wrong or other alternatives or to just explain why. As I have grown and learned I know have that abililty to be the teacher and try to use that to the best of my abilties. There will always be people who don't want to learn and just shoot off at the mouth. On the flipside there are always people that have a craving for knowledge as well. In person they can picked out and talked to, or avoided, accordingly, however, in an online community that is not the case and more care and time must be taken. So while I may have been talking to one person directly and he may not have cared, the words I said may have been seen by 5 other people who now know a little more.

Dude, just STFU already. All I hear from you is: Blah blah WTF hood. Blah blah blah blown motor. Blah blah blah why why why?

Your intentions are well founded so no worries. The people who are in the know took it for what it was.

Like I stated above there is always some ignorant person that hides behind a keyboard that has to open his mouth.
