Before I ask this, I just want to say by no means 'bragging', because I'm sure this happends to many of you, too. I just want some examples.

Anyway, when I pull up to meet spots, 9 out of 10 times people flock to my car. The way it gets complimented makes me feel like I pulled up in a Gallardo or something. I have had comments that blow me away sometimes! I have no ego, it doesn't make me cocky, but it makes me feel really good about my work. Does this ever happen to you guys? I know it must.

I only ask this because I stare at my car a lot--I always have for some reason--sort of Takumi does. :D And for the life of me, can't figure out why people like my car so much. It's a pretty standard DSM to me. Do you guys have any stories about this? I'd love to hear them! :)
Reggie

I've pulled up and people laugh....if you saw my car you'd understand due to it looking like it was raped by mcdonalds...but anyways, that all changes when i pull away and spin all 4 mwahahaha

First off, your car is a lot cleaner than most DSMs, so I can see why it gets complimented. But, I get complimented on my car every once in a while, especially when there are people around. I think a lot has to do with just a nice set of rims, lowered a bit to give it an agressive stance and of course a nice big fmic. Which you have all of. I've noticed that those 3 things will really make a DSM a nice looking car. Hopefully I'll get a few more compliments on my car once my fmic goes in. :D

Now if I could just do something about my wicked ugly wheel gap.

Thanks, man! If it makes you feel better, you have my favorite 1g! Color... everything.

I get the same reaction, followed by sniping from the local VW queerdos and other assorted rich kids with slow cars. So I just beat them.

Generally people who have fast cars respect our cars even when stock because they know what they're capable of. I've gotten encouraging thumbs-up in traffic from everything from Porsche 911s to Cobras, even though my car isn't modded enough to even hang with them.

But an AWD DSM is basically the official car of cleveland. In a battle rap in study hall at my high school, a kid who moved up here from Atlanta bragged about his Chevelle SS. So my friend Darryle got back at him with this line:

"I gives a #### about your car, son, I'll smoke you like a Newport
In the 216 the Mitsubishis beat a Super Sport."

Well, thanks. I appreciate the compliment. Keep up the good work on your car too.

I usually get 'Is it fast?' from people.

I tell them 'Sometimes.' Which is the truth. ROFL

My car has been repainted, so its a very nice 1G. But most spots" you wont find ricers and highschool kids.

You will find everyone claiming "stock" and trying to setup a money race.

True. My brother's into the lower tiers of that scene. But in Cleveland most of the real racing is roll races on the freeway.

This is his weapon of choice.

14.8 @ mid-90's because of wheelspin (don't have timeslip in front of me) When he ran that time he had a JDM Primera SR20DE (same as USDM, but with a better intake manifold and no EGR), OBX header, 2.5" axle-back, pop charger (a Nissan scene term for a cone filter clamped to the throttle body), and an ACT clutch. He ran that on crappy all season tires with full interior, a spare, and a milk crate of tools in the trunk.

Now, we've added a 3" catback and highflow cat, advanced the timing a few degrees (which on these cars mandates premium fuel, but yields about 15 HP). We put on KYB AGX's and Eibachs to help tighten it up. We've gutted everything behind the rear seats as well. With the new Falkens, anything higher than 14.2 is a disappointment. And for those of you who know these cars, you can probably read between the lines enough to know that this car does its thing from a roll.

The best part? We've got $1500 in the car, because most of the aftermarket stuff came with the shell.

Well two things happen they kinda look becuase my car soundslike a pissed off dirtbike with a swarm off bees metting a ferrari in the exaust and then they ntoive the cage and then people start coming over but then i realize why, they start asking where my b oyfriend is.

I pulled to a stop light like last week and this guy in a ford bronco was yelling at me so i put my window down and he was like hey i love your car let me hear it so i rev my engine he was like very nice car am building a dsm my self :thumb:

The only time I got my car to bring a flock is when I shoved the car into 2.5 feet of mud right before I hit up the DSM meet at GMU this year.

ROFL :tease:

When I pull up to spots, everybody wonders why my car is on a flat bed.

Haha same here man. One of my friends is so funny because he used to have a turbo volvo (much smaller than a t25:p ) and would always want to ride with me. He would ask me to gun it and I would say "ok, but I've got a boost leak, car is untuned, etc, so don't expect much." Then I would gun it and he would be yelling and "oh man that was soo quick." ROFL wait for the new fuel setup and more boost son.:thumb:

I get a lot of the same thing. Most people that I drive by look at my car, but it's hard to tell why. College-aged kids and below always stare at it, and just about every little kid around here yells NICE CAR!! when I drive by. Sometimes people just look up wondering where all the noise is coming from.

Older people stare at me when I drive through residential streets with evil eyes, as if I'm speeding, even though I always drive slow in those areas. I guess the sound from such a low gear makes them think I'm going fast?

Also, another thing I have yet to figure out, is very often when in traffic on the freeway or on city streets, a person in a car or truck next to me will look down near the front of my car, I can't tell if they're trying to figure out why my hood is "black", or if they're looking at the wheel. It really looks like they're looking down where the stock SMIC is, its really weird. And almost everyone seems to stare at the same spot on my car as if there is a picture of a naked chick there on the side. Oh wait, maybe I should go check if there is one WTF :dsm:

I think it's the carbon fiber hood...i get that alot too even though my car is black and it doesn't stand out as much.

Same thing happens to me, I have a stock hood though. But my SMIC is visible because I took the fender guard off.
