I think a lot of the problem is how much traffic has been increasing from all the growth in the area. So many more people... roads that cant really get any bigger.. and people trying to get from one place to another as fast as they can cause they are tired of what should be a 15-20min trip taking 45min to and hour *shrugs* Its funny though... cause you drive on the road in the middle of the night, and you got the whole damn road to yourself... during the day, you cant go anywhere haha

Never went off, maybe he wasn't clocking or anything usually, that thing will pick up everything from about a 1/2 mile out, just where I can barely see them.

How old is that radar? Does i pick up the new POP3 bands? I know a lot of cops are using that in OH now. I got a ticket about a month ago and my radar didn't even blink.

Oh I would hate to live around there... I can only imagine, ive seen vids and pics. Its kinda a different setting though, smaller streets, close building, no parking areas, where out here you have a lot of road, big parking lots, and no huge buildings all cramed next to each other. Different atmosphere but still just as shitty sometimes.

It's a psychological condition brought out by various catastrophic failures that can happen to a DSM.

The only cure is Alcohol.

Wait till you fellas drive in NJ/NY.

Not sure what your refering to but I live in NY and it does suck, but the one plus is that most of the cops seem to be using k/ka band radars still. I goto school in OH so I do a lot of driving from NY to OH. I pick the staters and the townies up in NY and most of PA, but one I get into OH I hardly pick up any radar and I see a decent amount of cops shooting.

Just a little more info I found:
Law enforcement has found a new way to stack the deck with POP modes on Ka-band and a few K-band radar guns. POP modes allow officers to send out signals in bursts too short to be picked up by many radar detectors. The catch is that speeders caught using POP modes can't be ticketed because the law requires a radar gun to lock onto a vehicle. However, if law enforcement detects a speeding vehicle using POP mode, he or she can then flip the gun into constant-on mode and get a lock on a vehicle. Testers this year were especially mindful to evaluate radar detectors on sensitivity using Ka-band guns in POP mode.

Wish I knew about this^^ before I got my ticket because I know that he did not use k/ka or my radar would have went off. Worst thing is that I had my cruise sey at 74 and he said I was doing 77 and thats what I got the ticket for. I know 74 is still speeding (in a 65) but most cops won't bother you for anything below 75, I pass them all the time and it was the first time I got pulled over.

Check out this site, has a lot of good information about newer rader guns and detectors. Found it searching around on google.

www.radarbusters.com

I got the following from: http://www.bestradardetectors.net/Radar_Detector_FAQ_a/112.htm

POP™ Mode is a normal K or Ka band radar signal which travels from the radar gun to a target and back in less than a 1/10th of a second. Most radar detectors manufactured over 2 years ago and cordless radar detector models can not see this signal because it is just too fast. This technology is growing and many of the newer models do offer protection for this new technology.

I talked to my friends brother who is an ex-cop and he explained how some of the newer technology works. Basically like ndilo said, they get you with POP then flip a switch and your screwed. The newer more expensive detectors can detect it, but keep in mind, there has to be other cars on the road ahead of you for it to be detected. Having a detector doesnt make you immune. Cops can sit there all day long and just turn on their radar when they "see" a speeder or whatnot.

This thread is archaic but I am answering a question. That radar detector is old as shit, I think I got it in 98 and it sucked balls, but I am using a "Cincinnati Microwave" detector now and I know it dosn't pick up POP3 but it picks up everything else.
