Remember when I posted about the tiwn turbo inline 6 3 series? well, its goign to hit our shore full production 300hp, 300tq, you might be looking at the next gen of performance which made cars liek the supras and 300zxs so potent. This sets a base for tuners to come, problem is, its all aluminum...... but looks baller as hell.

300hp for 42000? Not to mention thats the base price, in BMW that can go up 10k very quickly w/goodies. No thanks. I do like the look of the car but if I was going to spend that much on a bmw I would go all out for the M3 which is about 10k more.

In about 10 years this would be a cool car to mess around with, but brand new I would buy a lot of other cars before this one, baller or not.

Just as I had written off BMW, they go and do this... turbo AWD, plus I don't know how they did it, but they cleaned up that ugly ass new design and made it 'decent' looking in coupe form. I might even grow to like this car.

I didnt even notice tha tit was offered as awd, Just the idea of rwd twin turbo got me excited. But electronic awd = teh suck.

When you compare our cars with cars like this...they are soo simple.

Hell even when you compare ours cars to say a 95 300zx ours look simple. Im grateful that the 4g63 is at least moderately easy to work on.:thumb:

I pray to the dsm gods and am grateful for that fact. It kind of looks like they stretched the front end an inch or so, and it looks more like a 6 series now than a 3 series. THink within a couple months of this cars release date, european auto shop will have preprogrammed ecus and exhausts for this thing, I bet you 400hp isnt goign to be a problem with this car via supporting mods. :rocks:

I dunno. All aluminium i6 from bmw? Its not gonna be like a 2jz with iron block and forged internals. This thing will probably be pretty strung out from the factory with relatively small turbos. Plus all the technology on the thing will make it expensive as hell to mod. Add an exhaust and you have to reprogram the ecu etc....

... I'm so confused.

BMW which has, forever, been the performance brand that will not turbo (basically) releases the plans for a twin turbo 3 series.

twin turbo...

AWD

3 series.

First, why the HELL does it only put down 300/300. A stock sti does that with 1 turbo, and 2.5 compared to 3.5 liters of displacement (I'm going to hope that the BMW has a torque curve as wide as michael moore...)

Second, the competition for this market segment is already in that power range. for less money. Typically a V8 lux/sport sedan will put down more than 300 and have torque to boot.

If I was BMW and had finally decided to use turbos in my vehicles, I would sure as hell not make it the "high priced mediocre power" alternative to cars that are already available.

I DO agree with Ludachris though... I'm not sure how exactly, but they turned the debatable current design into something beautiful, without showing any truly obvious changes. I look at the car and can't tell what they did, but it looks soo much better.

Look, if they gave it more than 300/300, then it would be outpowering the current m3, and thats a nono, but by the time it comes out, which is in september, I think they will stop sleling th ecurrent e46 m3 :( , they cant have the lower car outpowering th ebetter car, capiche? but it outpowers the regular 3 series by only 45hp with two turbos, I kinda thought why wouldnt they just use one, but I think this may be the same turbo setup tha tis in the european 3-5 series diesel, which is irnoically twin turbo too. Either way, this car will have mad potential, modifying it will probably be like modyfing a subaru, get a reflash everytime something gets put on. But I can udnerstand that, I mean, who wants to keep on ####ign with their tuning on their bmw? you get it pretuned once, with all the mods you have, and its like driving a factory car, everythings preset, pretuned for ya.
