Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

well i could always pull out my 650's sell them and then pay the difference for the bigger injectors. what you think 880's?

If you getting DSMLink go bigger no need to ever buy 2x. There hasn't been much luck with 1600cc but 1150cc seem to work great. They are a little high money wise.

Mike from Forced Performance recommends no less then 850's with the FP3065. I have been researching it for a little while now and it seems to be great. It has proven some crazy track times and isnt an 'only drag' turbo if you know what I mean. But with a built motor, I agree, dont do it twice, go big and do it the right way. It may take longer but you will be more then satisfied in the end.

If you're serious about it, let Dan and I know. We'll generate a list of the needed parts for the install so you can go shopping, and we can even help you with the install. :dsm:

Could i get that list? Please and Thank you

Cheers,

SL

Yes post your goals...IE mods, times, HP, how much you can spend on a turbo, and you say fully built engine but what supporting mods do you have? Because even if your engine can take the power doesnt mean you will utilize all of it. Do you have DSMLink or safc or a stand alone unit? Vauge questions give way for vauge awnsers.

assuming i have all supporting mods and i want to only make this a race car that will barely ever see the street. The fuel system is not upgraded but i am going to do what ever is neccesary. i would like to see low 12's. I need opinions and around acouple thousand for the turbo and the fuel upgrades.

There's really no reason to ask this..

Follow that path and you will see your HP goals met. However, runnign 12's in a FWD is not as easy as you think it is. It takes a lot of practicing, suspension setup, tires, 60 ft's etc to get you there. Many have went 12's with slicks, LSD, and some good driving with a 16G, others have done it with larger hybrid turbos and such. Do your research and make your own decision.

A full race car that will barely see the street running 12's? Those don't seem to match up to me, but if you are planning on making a full race car that'll never see the street, I don't see any problem with it running 10's. Evil_eagle's daily driver runs mid-low 10's.

So for some time now, i've been researching on a turbo upgrade for my 90 TSI AWD. Just to let you guys know, here's my setup at the moment.

Stock 6-bolt motor
SBR Racing FMIC
Greddy Profec Type S Boost controller
16G Turbo
3" Exhaust (stright pipe) except my downpipe is 2.5", which will be upgraded when the type of turbo is installed.
HKS VPC
Evo 560cc Injectors

So, my goal at this point is to have around 450awhp and the application would be street / occational track usage. I've been recommended the FP3052 and i've been hearing great things about the Greenie.

I am also curious about the other parts that i would need to change / buy when installing a larger turbo (ie.. mani, injector limits for 560cc, O2 housing, external wastegate).

If you guys have some other turbos that you'd recommend for what my end goals are, that'd really be great. I know that the motor is stock, and was thinking of not boosting as much, but it'd be great to have the power when i want to push it for street usage.

Hope to hear from you soon...

peace

Both turbos are capable of your goal. If your going for 450awp i'd be looking to upgrade your tranny, you'll need bigger injectors, definatley need a engine management(dsmlink), you could prob use the SBR ported mani, your probably gonna want to pick up some cams and some internal work, maybe a SMIM, theres alot of little things. 450awhp is not a easy achievment. Hope this helps.

Well I picked up a new talon and have it apart for a semi build while retaining the stock internals..for now or until they blow.
I have:
-FMIC with a complete maft blow thru setup short route
-Tial BOV
-SAFC
-3 inch turbo back
-New cluth
-AFPR
-Ported 2g exhaust manifold
-boost controller
-Logging system via my laptop
-more I am forgetting

My goals are to hit 11's if possible if not a nice a 12 second pass on 93 octane. This car will be driven sort of daily but not nearly everyday. I know I need more than just the turbo such as injectors, wastegate, o2 housing ect, but these depend on the turbo I am going with. So any input would be greatly apprieciated.
P.S I aint made of money so a 1k some dollar turbo is sort out of the question, and the car in my profile is gone as it was my old car.

For fast spool like an Evo III 16g, you could get a ball bearing 50 trim. They aren't too bad in terms of price. Or you could get a bigger one even... Depends on how much you can afford. You'll ###### need some bigger injectors too, when you get a chance. :thumb:

I definatly know I need injectors, I posted that in my first post. What ball bearing 50 trim isn't over 1k? And still good quality.

I have Nippondenso 560cc Evo 8 Injectors, New O-rings, ready to roll, If you are interested let me know, I also have a Holset 35/40 w/ between 1800-2000 miles. 650 horses ballpark for this turbo. 45+psi
