haha keep up the info guys, yeah last night was a bad night...i pulled up beside this old (late 70 early 90's) jeep..it was big like a cherokee type one...anyways...it was all rusty and beat up looking and full of kids...they wanted to race.....and well i nvr...the light went green and the jeep took off and was a car and a half length in front of me...i figured what the hell...i pinned it and well by the time i started to catch them i was goin bout 80-85km/h...and i was slowly creeping up on em...at bout 100km/h i was gaining faster...and then they decided to hit the brakes...i think i coulda beat em if i would have launched propperly at the right time..but i nvr anyways what the heck was in that thing?? that was a bad loss......but at least i know for next time..

some of those jeeps have pretty quick v8s.

i'm relatively new and just got my car a couple weeks ago.....on the way back from NY(a 7 hour drive) yesterday, we were in like scranton I think. Coming up a hill I was planning on making this all pimped out Kia Sephia look silly, well it already did anyway...he had this big wing on the back, and an exhaust..one of those cars! I dropped it in 4th going about 65 and planned on passing him, but I just embarrassed myself, cause I literally gained no ground, it was depressing..I need more mods. But I learned a rather saddening lesson:-/ Just thought i'd share

haha yeah losing can be embarsing but its a learning experience...just like me and the jeep...i'll think twice...but maybe after a few mods you'll be able to show it who's boss, hmm...nobody told me if those ford escort GT'S are fast?..does anyone know?...as sad as this sounds..my friends older areostar mini van type thing..actuall has some kick (he doesnt drive it like a mini van)..i've never raced it but dont want to..hehe just in case.....that would be embarasing...getting whooped by a van....ouch..anyways.. lemme know bout those ford escort GT'S and any other embarasing losses.

my step sister has an older escort gt that wasnt fast at first but when she took it in to get the timming belt replaced and a new clutch put in and they mustve done something cuz now its as fast as my brothers 95 neon. but i have never raced her.

last night i was racing my friends regal grand sport we both have at and he killed my off the line but when his od kicked in i stayed in 3rd and blew by him so the moral is he wouldve crushed me if he knew how to drive. by the way it had a 3800 v6.

I don't know about vtech's, they are very fast! My brother has a pimped out Integra that's not a vtech and it's running about 170 hp and is pretty fast, I should race him....he was with me during the kia experience and was laughing at me, the dirty bastard.

as for "vtech" honda's, vtec doesn't always mean fast...i spank civic si's and integra gsr's on the reg...even beat a stock type r once by half a car...our cars are no pushovers, just no one puts in the proper effort when it comes to modding them

yeah, I gained very little ground on him. I had quite a bit of weight in the car, maybe that had something to do with it, my brother alone is 215 and our clothes and stuff from the weekend in the trunk? I paid $140 for a K&N Filtercharger that supposedly added 20 lb. ft. torque. So I dunno. What other mod would someone suggest, that's relatively cheap? I'm thinking the underdrive pulley, my friend was looking it up, and it's supposed to add 12hp..let me know!

i dont know about 20 lbs./ft. of torque from a filtercharger...and as for pulleys, i doubt you'll see 12 hp from it, i have a unorthodox underdrive pulley, and i noticed gains, but mainly in torque, and it was still nothing spectacular...mine is a 2g tho, so im not too sure of the differences between gen.'s, but good luck anyway...

so what do you think, if I've got around $200 what are my mod. choices?

I pull on my friends 94 300zx N/A so there you go..thats about he fastest car i can keep with .without my turbo ket yet ..its still fun to see the look on his 210+ hp car when im keeping up and drafting on him

depends on if the neons are sohc or dohc,
all cavileers are slow
and i dunno how you guys are judging this, most of it depends on the driver

well my sister has a celica gt 2001(auto) and i have a 1998 2.0 n/t(stick) she beat me every time we raced but no i have plugs and wires and a cai i guess we'll have to see how it handles after i get mine from the shop

i raced an older z24 last night and beat him up to 50 mph he had so much neon in the car im surprised it could move, it was pretty close though, has anyone ever raced one of those little festiva or colts those things are mean dude.

My buddy has a 2001 Honda Civic EX sohc vtec, with and aem cold air intake and i can keep up with him, and i dont have any mods under my hood, neons i can take, they have less horsepower than us and we both run 420a engines

I beat up on a new Impala V6...I was happy about that.

Are you ignorant or what? "kid" is what we are talking about here. Your comment only helps the "kid" perform illegal actions which can cause impound fees of 1400 and suspended license for a year (not to mention your court fees and jail time). i've beaten mr2 n/a, neons, vtec hondas haven't raced an si or an s2000 and probably not a good idea either, 1g n/a, 2g n/a, 3g gs, golf tdi, golf and jetta's n/a havent raced any turboed, probes es and gt barley on the gt, saturns, cav's, some v6 mustangs, tercel, altimas, and a sentra se-r today (or so it said).

my friend has a black 2001 honda ex vtec w/ exhaust, header, intake, and even when i just had my cfdfc and aem short intake i'd take him every time. he would get the jump on me off the line by almost 2 cars. by the time i hit 3rd i'd have a bumper on him and i'd hit 4th i was at least a car on him and pulling away.
