Hi im new here and i got a real problem last night i was driving home and all of a sudden my stereo started to sound like i was getting bad reception and got real staticy i put a cd in to see if it would stop and as soon as it started to take it i got fuel cutoff just for a second then it came back on but my rpm gauge was freakin out jumping from 1000 to 3000 rpm and for the rest of the ride everytime i hit a bump the checkengine light would come on the car would lurch and then it would go off and id be back to normal has anyone ever had this problem. I have a 91 eagle talon stock with 81000 miles if that helps.

Sounds like an electrical short of some kind, either that or the ECU is fried. Try taking the ECU out and smelling it. If it smells like rotten fish then its bad.

i think i found it. When i looked at it this morning i found my battery hold down was loose. What happened is everytime i hit a bump the battery jumped and it sparked against the hood. Thank god i didnt blow up. Would this cause a lasting problem with the ecu.

I doubt it hurt anything like that, I've had my fair share of battery related "incidents" while working on the car. I even tried welding a crescent wrench to my strut bar.
