I am still getting some pretty bad gas mileage.

I am only getting about 19.7 mpg with mostly city driving shifting at 4k.
I have already replaced my front O2 sensor and am looking to replace the fuel filter.

I have a 99gst with about 55k miles on it. Should my fuel filter already be bad?

What else should I check or change? I have NKG plugs and Accel wires are on the way.

Thanks,
Nathan

well I think I'm getting 25mpg's now and used to get no more than 20...here's what I did switched to cheveron supreme gas instead of arco sh*t, switched to Mobil 1 oil, new plugs and wires, and put 40psi in my tires when they were at 28 and the max on the tire is 44...didn't really affect my ride much at all. I may be getting more than 25...I'm not sure yet cause I've only used half a tank...but still I got 160 miles to that 1/2 when before that would run me down to a 1/4.

nice post 13secgst. ill definitely try changing my plugs and wires. could the additives in the gas in the winter (so it wont freeze) mess up gas mileage that much too? thanks for the help. please respond if u have anymore ideas.

thanx Gangreen...I don't really get compliments. Um, the additives in the gas may affect it...I live in Cali so they never put that in the gas cause it rarely gets below 40 at night. But those additives may affect your mileage slightly but 16mpg is horrible you shouldn't get less than 19-20. Also another BIG gas saver is to shift @ or before 2500rpms if your just crusing...then you can step on it every once and a while like when you get on the freeway and you'll still get good mileage.

But ask other people from back-east about the additives and if it affects their gas mileage a lot? Cause in all honesty I have no experience with that kind of stuff.

I have been having bad gas milage and I think my gas is somehow getting in the oil. Smell the oil and see if you smell gas if so that may be your problem, but I don't know how to correct yet. I was told it may be my fuel pump (time for a upgrade):D

This is just a guess though so hope you find the problem

when i first got my car i was getting about 350 miles to a tank of gas and not i'm getting maybe 290. i did put a udp on but i don't know how much that could be hurting it. what else could it be? thanks

Aftermarket mods will decrease gas mileage. If your O2 sensor is bad, or your car is out of tune your gas mileage will decrease. Run some Redline fuel system cleaner throug there and that should help.

I get around 230 miles per tank on 91 oct, with 16G, 16PSI, 255GPH fuel pump, and that's half highway, half city driving with at least 1 hour of the car on idle per tank. I always start it 15 minutes before getting in my car because it's really cold here !

i get usually 240-260 miles on a tank. i usually fill it w/ a quarter of the tank left. i let my car run a lot though before i drive it so it kills some gas:(

average 27 mpg on stock 420a engine
thats combined city and hwy driving...i have no idea what each is seperately.

Two of my friends have fuel systems and they both say they get about 10 mpg, is this normal or are they just not tuned properly? I saw that dan cockic got 17mpg and he runs 10's.

So do they have Vipers or something? If one gets bigger injectors one would have to lean it out some or else it will run rich.

Bad o2 sensors can give u bad mileage.

Spark plugs, gap, and wires too.

Wow, never post a question you don't want answered! hehe. I just meant it's too easy to abuse the power! In theory, if the car likes to go fast, and the gf likes to give head, you might have a hard time saying "no" to either. There is no REAL downside. I mean, your car could break and (like rubberside said) your girl could be giving favors to other guys, but you don't mod your car because you're afraid of it breaking, do ya

Ive been monitoring my gas consumption this past 2 months and the GSX consistently uses 17.5mpg - to the dot! I forgot what the sticker claimed when i bought this car, I think it's 18/22 for the AWD. Im a little on the low side I guess. On my trip to San Diego with all freeway, I got around 22 and that's without flooring it. (I know huh, what fun is that?)

On my other car (C5), I average 22mpg in the city, using the exact same route, same exact time i leave in the morning and afternoon, and same mode of driving. On the highway, 31mpgOMG which is really good. But I know it's not turbo and it's not AWD. I love turbo cars and i know the price to pay if you love boosting. Im not complaining,....well maybe a little coz our cars drink premium fuel and @$2.00 a gallon in Southern California, I think the gas stations/oil suppliers are screwing us. *vent*

well that's in general w/ all girl friends... but not all want to give you head all the time... the ones that do want to give head want to give it to everyone else too. i'm just saying what's the downside to having a gf that would actually want to go down on you and only you all the time?

belive me ... there is a downside - you`ll get all skinny and weak after some time, but she wants more and more. She will become like a vampire sucking all of your lifeforce - you start fearing for your life and you try to hide from her but no - she will find you anywhere and she will suck and suck and suck untill your dead.

oh and btw: I am getting 230 miles on full tank with my stock 2G Talon

^^^^^^^^^

bwahahaa that's funny

my dream: to see a girl on the side of the road holding a sign that says "Will give head for boost" now that would be kick-ass LOL

I have been having what i consider bad fuel mileage. I am getting about 17 mpg and I think that seems a little low, Is this what most of you have been seeing from a 1st gen TSi AWD, It is all stock UNFORTUNATELY but for a 4 pop that seems like a little low. I am also having a little idle surge so any help on that would also be helpful.

Thanks
Brent
