want to get the aem cam gears and of course change the timing belt while im in there.....will the cam gears do any damage? do u require getting any other parts? i would get camshafts in the future when i have the money

Just buy HKS cams and you won't need cam gears.
See the other threads and they'll explain it to you.

Or unless you had your head or block milled and demand your cam timing to be perfect and/or want some advanced tuning options (advance/retard intake or exhaust cam).

well if i get the hks cam gears, should i upgrade the head?

if anything get a 1G head and port the hell out of the exhaust side and the manifold.

then what do u recommend for the camshafts? the HKS 272 lifts?

Why would cam gears require you to upgrade the head?

Cam selection will depend entirely on what else you have done to your setup. It would be stupid to put cams on a car running a t25.

would there be no benefit in advancing/retarding the intake/exhaust cams by a few degrees?

If you are asking about the stock cams the practical answer would be no. You would need to spend 500-650 bucks on gears. The you would need to spend countless hrs on the dyno at $100an hr. To extract maybe 3 or 4 hp. Would you consider that good bang for the buck?

The only real benifit of cam gears on a car are the following:

Stock Cams:
1. Move the powerband up or down the RPM Range.
2. 3-6hp gain due to the new timing...possibly.

Aftermarket Cams (cheap ones, not HKS):
1. Degree the Cams
2. Improve idle vacuume
3. Move the powerband in the RPM Range.
4. Pick up HP due to cams ground "off center" (go back to #1)

Aftermarket Cams (HKS):
Same as stock except you can expect even higher HP gain depending on your setup.

So obviously the only thing cam gear are good for (if you have a decent set of cams) is to move the powerband.
