In the 4G64 engines you would need/prefer special pistons to make up for the lack oil squirters. :dsm: :thumb:
Depending on which 4g64 block you are using you would need special pistons just to be able run a DOHC head. However if you found the rare Galant 4g64 block and decided to use that in your motor other than the 9:5:1 compression being a bit high you wouldn’t have any problems running it. But all this still doesn’t explain how Weisco pistons would make your motor go “bye bye” as you so eloquently put it. Please explain

I'm not saying that it would be instantaneous, and as soon as you fired up the engine the first time or very soon later the the motor would blow. I am just saying that any piston that wasn't designed to make up for the oil squirters wouldn't last over time as if you used daily over a few years or so. I'm sorry if i made it sound so horrible to put weisco pistons in them. :dsm: :thumb:

Here is the problem with that thought. To my knowledge none of the 64 blocks have squirters. Piston manufacturers are aware of this when the design the piston.

rdrkt is correct, the lack of squirters is compensated for in the piston design. Coating the pistons also helps control the heat reducing the need for squirters even more.

Or, since the oil gallery is there we can simply machine the block for oil squirters!!!

Arguement closed...

anyone know of magnus motorsports. They sell a shortblock that they say can handle 800hp. They are selling them for $3000 before core charge after the core charge its only $2250. Anyone know if there work is anygood or not?

I think your reading it wrong. The price is $3000 when all is said and done. the $750 core charge would be added initially.

Wrong. I talked to magnus and the core charge is figured in right away, so when/if you turn in a good core you get 750 back, which means your engine now cost $2250. Nate

I just wanted to let you guys know that I sent in a order for a 6-bolt to rpmxtreme about two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for an acknowlagement from them if they even got my order. I've tried to call them but their english is'nt that great. They said to e-mail them. I'll be sure to post how long it took to get the engine and what the condition and quality is when I get it. If they do a good job I am going to get there race/street head with the crower springs/retainers. Wish me luck.

I went with SBR for a Stage 1 shortblock; I too ordered it 2 weeks ago, but I talked to Mike on the phone. A+ customer service. MitsuE95GST- we'll have a race to see who gets their engine first.

sweet, make sure and let us know how it goes MitsuE95GST, I honestly don't think that you will have a problem with em, but well see.

Well here is a cut and paste of my e-mail, with them so far...

To them: Dear RPM auto service, I sent in a order on Feb.1 (ID #04N582339G118530A) from paypal account [email protected] for a 6-bolt 4G63 engine. I have not received a conformation e-mail on my order yet, and I just want to know that you have my order and are working on it. I am the first of a group of people from a message board that are interested in buying engines and products from you but they are waiting on a positive review from me before they proceed. Thank you.

The reply: i check me paypal account and no se de money
you send the money to [email protected]
please check
Thanks

1,679.98 they better have got it!!!
GVTalon - no bet here, but we'll see.

Well I e-mailed him back...

To them: I sent the money to [email protected] account.
Reply: ahhh me email is [email protected] me shopping cart is bad

So he said he was going to call Paypal, and let me know when he finds something out.

I don't know what is going on at the moment but if anyone decides to buy anything from them make sure and use the [email protected] e-mail address rather than the one they use for there shopping cart, its wrong.

To MitsuE95GST: Before you went and gave this place $1600, did you check out the rest of their website? Barely any of their other links work to anything but the block and air filters and they dont even have their own domain name. Looks like a shady place and before I would go sending $1600 to a place like that I would find out some more info on them. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

You can always dispute the charge with paypal/CC company if you have to, not like thats never been done before, but its still a PITA

Well looks like I mite end up having to do that. I did'nt want to have to call the credit card place but it looks like I mite have no choice. They guy obviously does'nt know what he is doing. I belive that the business is real and that he inteneded to have a legitamite company, but from what I can tell he just does'nt know how to use a computer. But hey look at it this way at least you guys know not to go there now.

I knew that well before your incident. Common sense would have told you their pricing was FOS. Please be more careful with your money. I don’t want to see any DSMer get screwed.

tallywacker Yes I did check the web site and I did talk to them on the phone. He uses paypal and I used my CC so i'm not worried about lossing my money. I would'nt recommend going to him, he has been nothing but a pain. I'll be going with Magnus or FFWDconnection.

the place in orlando, ya, its a total dump, a couple guys from other local boards have been there, no good

So has anyone purchased a motor from these guys yet ???

:dsm:

Mike, do you have any blocks in stock? I'm looking to buy a complete race setup for the lower end. If you can supply the whole block within 2 weeks, i'll get it.
