I'm putting together a cheapo system for my car. Just bought a 20G for $400, have a 2.5" tubular O2 housing set up for ext. gate on the housing. Now, my question is....Do I get a brand new Turbonetics Deltagate for $125 (not many people like them due to poor performance) or do I get a proven Tial 35mm for $187 shipped. I need to make a decision fast. Let me know what you all think is my best move.

Keep in mind, this is for a daily driver beater, nothing fancy here.

Thanks,
Mike

I use the Tial and I have had no problems with it, even running very low boost. My friend with a similar setup has a deltagate and gets some very bad boost creep when he tries to run less than 20psi.

A Tial 40mm or a 46mm depending on your set up .

A 35mm is more than adequate for his application. He's just running a TD05/6 20G as stated in his 1st post.

I have an HKS and I like it. I think it measures 42mm. But in your case don't waste your money on the crap-ass deltagate.

Hmm, tial is run on indy cars and deltagate's are run on street honda's. You go ahead and choose now.

DeltaGates are ran on high-horsepower, high-end race cars as well.

Just not the 'el cheapo ones.

No, "RaceGates" are run on high-horsepower, high end race cars. But still, no matter how high HP high end a car is...can it compete to a $10,000,000 indy car? Nope. And out of that $10M they chose to by a Tial.

Common, Tial is one of the few pieces of equipment we can use on our cars that are in this class of parts. We can't have Variable A/R turbines, Hydrolic Cams, Carbon fiber Blocks, carbon fiber disk brakes, a nifty custom carbon seat that gives you a BJ as you drive the car...but we can have that WG, and we know that WG will do it's job FLAWLESSLY. I have never heard of anyone complain that a Tial malfunctioned. Heck, I have sceen two cars with a Tial 35mm put down over 550hp to the wheels...TO THE WHEELS!! That Tial 35mm flows some air. And both cars can turn the boost down to 9psi and have zero boost creep.

Thanks for all the replies. The decision has been made. I want to thank Ken at Indy Race Cores for hooking me up big time. I ended up getting both a 35mm and a 40mm Tial (35mm for the 20G/FWD, and 40mm for the 50trim (later on 60-1) for my AWD).

I appreciate everyone's opinions/experiences/responses.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not going to get in a debate & all..... but anything that I have to start putting shims in to adjust , it is not going on my cars ......

There doesn't seem to be a debate at all.

Tial is obvious overall choice vs. the Delta-Junk for entry-level wastegates.

The only thing that I noted was that the upper level gates we're good also. Last I checked, I think they were retailing at like $900+ though.

I have HKS units on all of my cars. (std. small 40mm and the Racegate on the other car). However, Tial and HKS both work damn well. The Tials are just much prettier.

I'd take one of the bad-ass Greddy ones as well though.

Turbonetics NewGen wastegate with the swing open gate, 51mm. Tial is good for the money but NewGen OWNS!!!

I doubt that. If you are running high psi like in a 550 hp car then I'm sure you wouldn't be able to lower your boost to 9 psi. Reason being you are supposed to match the spring as close to the maximum psi you want to achieve.

For example, a street DSM would probably choose a 1 bar spring because that'll put them at 15 psi at the lowest setting. There is a minimum psi that these gates produce before being adjusted.

I'd go with the Garrett on the FWD because the turbo lag will help with low end/high horse traction issues. Then get the low end spool up and power with the 20g on the AWD. Just my opinion, either way nice toys and Have Fun!

Very true. One of my friends was having trouble keeping 22 psi on the dyno and it was because his brand new tial WG came with a .5 bar spring. He installed a 1 bar spring and problem solved! So no way a race motor that runs 30 psi or so can lower the boost all the way to 9 psi (unless he goes through all the trouble of replacing WG springs wich it's a total pain).
