Do you really consider this an extreme question? You took all the trouble of registering and posting over at the AEM forums but if you would have done even the most basic of searches you would have found your answer. One of the biggest benefits of any standalone is switching over the MAP based system. This allows you to eliminate the MAS and you can now vent your BOV to the atmosphere.

WOW, you mean I too can vent my BOV to the atmosphere and get that cool sound like those nifty honda's? Geez, please tell more.

Seriously though, just a few mouse clicks and you could have found out this info (about the AEM/Haltech).

This is not an extreme question and I would like to see this thread closed...or moved.

What do you mean it's not an extreme forum question. When was the last time either of you did a complete standalone on a 420A motor. You probably haven't, and neither have most people. It does take a lot of research and asking question, especially among fellow DSMers. Please keep your comments to yourself unless they are constructive and then I ask you stick to the topic!

Cool sound and honda shouldn't be used in the same sentence. :D

:thumb: I officially put rdrkt on my "dsmtuners wiseman a$$hole" list. He sure has a way of looking down at people that are not as "wise" as him.

just for the record hes not an a$$.. I didnt realize what forum i was in when i posted so its my bad and he had a right to flame me...hes actually been a pretty helpful guy! that being said..back on topic!

####, i don't...You get to a certain point in your own "wisdom" that the lack of research skills of other people bothers you. Honestly, I know that I know as much as any of the wisemen on this board and I earned that knowledge through dedicated racing and research. If you can't tolerate a little attitude you earned in my frustration then maybe you should be more careful about what you say!

Im sure I could find this by readin the AEM boards but its quicker to ask on here to someone who already has it. How does the AEM regard knock, does it automatically retard for knock or does it only display knock and do you have full control over this?

Larry you have full control over what happens during a knock event. You can then tell it what you would like it to do. This can be very beneficial when trying to make big power on pump gas. This is one of the nice thing that the AEM offers over the Haltech. With the Haltech most people add a J&S knock sensor $$ to monitor knock.

The one time I forget to quote someone and you nail me for it. I was referring to the post directly above me.

My sentiments exactly. :thumb:

Tsi92 whether or not you see it I seriously go out of my way to try and help as many people as I can. I try and do as much good for the community as possible. I write many email to try and help people out. But I get frustrated when people ask uninformed questions.

When I don’t know something (and trust me that is often) I do as much research as possible BEFORE I make a post. This way I can post an intelligent question which should hopefully be easier to answer because you know exactly what I am looking for.

Larry, assuming the ems is like the proefi (precursor to the ems) it will allow you to specify a number of things. It basically views knock as "noise." You have to specify at what point this "noise" is real knock and not a number of other things. Then you tell the system to regard anything over "x noise" levels to be true knock and to retard timing, add fuel, etc.

Calm the fock down. If it didn't deserve to be here, I would have moved it by now. :D

Continue on. :p

For the record I would say that rdrkt is one of the nicest Wisemen on here. I have seen him answer questions that I would barely dignify by reading. He takes time on stuff that most people might ignore.

Plus he is soft :)

Don't call him an a$$hole. Sh|ts like you are part of the reason I am no longer a Wiseman, I'd rather yell at you than try to get anything through your thick skull. At least rdrkt takes the time to respond to your stupid a$$ comment, I would have just ripped into you like I am now.

im runnin haltech e6k on my 95 gst and i didnt even bother buyin a knock sensor. I read alot of info on them in the knock sensor boards and it turns out that knock sensors dont really work or they are not accurate on highly modified and noisy motors.

Hey if that gets you off so be it. I don't really care what you might think. This is the f'n internet you know... My comment was based on other posts I noticed, but who am i huh.

I highly recoomend to anyone that takes the internet too seriously to calm down and do something better with your time. Getting pissed off at some internet dude on a message board is very amusing. ;)
