Ok can someone answer my question of what the difference is in the eclipse and eagle talon. i hear that the eagle is just a cheaper version of the eclipse. is this right? what about hp? someone please clear this up for me

the 90-94 DSM's are all the same cars, just different trim levels

The 95-99 turbo DSM's have the 4G63 motor, while the nonturbo edition has the 420A motor.

in 98 the Talon stopped production

Yes the Eagle does not hold value as the Mistubishi Does. It's just a name. They are still (turbo edition) powered by Mitsubishi.

i was reading somewhere that besides the engines being different (2g), the headlights, tailights, badging, and the best one yet..... the talon doesn't have the same cd-changer cord/jack as the eclipse.

It's all about the name. eg Acura's are Honda's. Lexus' are all Toyota's. Infiniti's are Nissan's. But if you went to the showroom and bought a Toyota SUV (Land cruiser) you will pay much less (7-10K) than you would for it's Lexus version (Lexus LX470). Although it's the same ****!ng vehicle. It's cheaper buying a used Geo prizm engine than a used Toyota Corolla engine although it's the same engine and the list goes on....It's all in the NAME! What counts is the Engine and Drivetrain is the same for the DSM's.

Put it this way:
Mitsubishi Eclipse: Gucci
Eagle Talon: JC Penny
Plymouth Laser: K-Mart

(this is no going by quality but by price) heh

very true. i probably paid as much for my turbo talon as you did for your NT eclipse (and my car had a TV, new deck, head unit, some engine upgrades, etc.)

the only diff between talons and eclipses are the front and rear clips,
the wings (yalons has an ugly lip thing) and talons have the top of the car painted black.

Other than that theyre identical, even the sticker on the side of the door says mfrd by mitsubishi

No Offense, But when it all performs the same, then who gives a damn, cuz you're still smoking the car next to you.

and if your smoking someones high price "gucci" car with your "jc penny" it makes it all that much sweeter. Plus u save more money for mods.

for some reason, in my personal preference i think talons are better. I am a fan of their rear-ends for 1st gens and just wanted a talon, i am not mad about the eclipse but i just wish i could have a TSi

The simple fact is that talons are superior, for the followign reason:

Around here is see 2g eclipses about as much as integras, but i have only onece in my life, seen another 2g talon other than my own... so when other people see the car they know why you have that car... TO RACE, its liek an advertisement.

On the other hand the head lites are bigger so there are body kit problems, but reall there is no performance difference

a friend of mine has a 95 TSi AWD which was mfrd. in 1994, and has Diamond Star Motors labels everywhere. I have a 96 TSi (AWD now heh heh ) which was mfrd. in sept. of 1995 and it has Mitsubishi Motors of America, Inc. labels everywhere.

So i think they decided to cut some money printing all of the different labels for the later 2g's, and just ran Mitsu's off.

either that or mine is a Eclipse to Talon conversion LOL..!

DSM actually disolved after 95 i think though the cars were still made in the Ohio plant and everyone still considers them DSM's. again, i think. so don't yell if i'm wrong.

get an eclipse if you like the way they look, get a talon if you like them, get a laser if you like a car with an eighties name (sorry, couldn't resist) as long as you get the 4G63 turbo motor it doesn't make a lick of difference. except maybe price and avialability.
