With my phone, I'm lucky that pic came out as good as it did. I may sit it in the sun tommorow before I install it and see if I can't get a better one.:thumb:

These are a little better I think...

haha good stuff man! i got that same idea watching powerblock this morning... i think it was on trucks or horsepower tv or something. But i have a sagging headliner, and they made flames in this hot rods headliner.... i was thinking hmmm a nice diamond star would look good when i do my headliner... but you beat me to it!!! looks good though man!

how did you do that? did you use foam and cut it out or use a different method..?

danny

Actually I had thought about putting flames on there, but seeing as how the rest of my car is pretty low key, it would have looked out of place. If I had to do it again though, I would spin the star 180 degrees and make it a bit bigger.

As far as materials go, I got 2 yards of headliner with foam backing, a yard of high density 1/4" foam, and a can of spray glue (I recommend 2 cans though...). Total cost was around $40.

The diamonds were cut out of the foam, and glued on first. They were a little tricky (I never was very good at geometry, but here's a hint: even though it looks like it, it isn't as tall as it is wide!;) ) but on the second try I got them damn near perfect. The hardest part is getting the old headliner out and back in without breaking it. Its made of very thin, brittle styrofoam. If you do snap it, it can be repaired fairly easily. You can tape it (I used heavy foil tape for hvac ducting), or glue some poster board to the backside. You'll also want to pick up some new christmas trees for the headliner (5 total to match the color of the material), and some retaining clips for the plastic trim peices, as I destroyed every single one of mine during disassembly.

If you are careful you can get away with 1 yard of headliner. I got 2 just incase I screwed it up, and at only $7 a yard its cheap insurance! :thumb:

I have been wanting to do my 1g headliner for a while now. While im driving it feels like someone is rubbing my head with a feather ..LOL..But anwyay where can I pick up that type of material? Also is it hard to do the sunvisors becuase my roof is tan with black interior so I want the roof your color dark grey.

Look in the yellow pages for someplace that deals in automotive upholstry supplies, or even an upholstry shop will sell it to you if its more convienient for you. The sunvisors are something that you will have to have done by a pro to look even halfway decent as they have to be sewn together. I know its hard to tell in the pics, but the new headliner is actually black...

Ok thanks alot homie. You answered my question perfect I will look into a good upholstry shop this weekend.

Not trying to steal the post but why not post up your headliners? Some people are creative in here. Post 'em up.

Here's mine. Done in leather with no sunvisors. and NO, the latch isn't painted white. It's the lighting. :D
