It's just been happening the last past couple days and doesn't last long but When I come to a stop and Idle in N (5 speed) when the oil pressure and RPM's are idleing aroung 8-900 The Oil light flashes, some time stays on but if I give it gas then it goes off.. Only seems to do it at Idle.. Could this just be the sensor since I still have Oil pressure or could teh oil pump be going?? It's only been 2500Kms since last oil change.

Unless you have an actual oil pressure gauge that can give you an accurate reading, then I would assume that your oil pressure light is working properly and that you may have a problem brewing with your oil pump, or a severe oil leak that drops the oil pressure down at idle.

Check down around your stock oil pressure sending unit on the oil filter housing. Check the wires there and on the "dummy light" for the oil pressure gauge (above it and to the side).

Check to make sure the sensor clip ( little slide) isnt loose. Sometimes they will wear out and become loose. Ive seen them come off completely and make the guage look like the car has no oil pressure. Talk about scary while driving down the hwy. heh

Mine is doing the same thing.... Im glad i know what to look for. what happens with mine is when i am idling the oil pressure drops real low and when i accelerate it goes up and the light turns off.

That is exactly what mine is doing.. It hasn't happened since the last time I wiggled the wires. I put in 5w-30 full synthetic oil, on my last oil change. I wounder if that might be the issue??

My oil light flashes at idle and is all the way on when i rev the motor and everything seems to be ok but it's making me really worried that the motor isnt gettin enough oil pressure what can I do

Sounds like low oil pressure to me. The light goes away when you rev it cause that makes the pressure go up. I believe that light kicks on at 5 psi. Get youself a 30 dollar Oil pressure gauge and get an accurate reading.

If your oil psi is below 9 or 10 at idle I'd say its time for a rebuild before she starts rod knocking.

Get a manual oil pressure gauge at Harbor Freight and test it. If it reads good, then you just have either a bad sensor or the wire/sending unit may just need cleaned.

It sounds to me like the wiring is either needing repaired or you oil pump is getting ready to go out on you. If the wiring is ok then it is about time to do a rebuild.

One of my buddies evo8 does the same thing, car only has 63000 miles on it!! Its been doing it for awhile now and haven't had any problems so far....

my car does this also . my aftermarket guage will read about 10psi idling at 750rpm. On hot days and when the car is warm it drops to 5psi. the stock light seems to come on right under 10psi. but oil presssure is fine at anything slightly above idle and goes to bout 80 when im on it. car has decent compression and hasn't blown yet but my pressure sensor sprung a leak soo who knows ha. guees it depends on your luck.

DSm's have notoriously low pressure at idle, and high pressure under WOT (especially with BS removed and no ported oil filter housing). Normally, you can live with it; but if pressure is dropping even lower at idle or climbing too high at WOT, there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

First of all...make sure you are running the correct oil viscosity for your temperature range. If you still have low pressure, then start looking at the possiblity that it may be time for an oil pump rebuild. 4G63 oil pumps are about as simple as it gets; just two straight or bevel-cut gears that pump oil through the interference of their teeth meshing... and they can eventually get sloppy and wear out.

Talk about dead thread revival! :D

Low pressure doesn't necessarily mean the Oil pump is failing. I would suspect the clearance between the main and rod bearings has increased due to WEAR. This increased clearance in the bearings will cause oil pressure to drop.

Normally when clearance is tight between the crank and the bearings this will create oil pressure. When the clearance is loose it will cause the oil to just pour out and have NO pressure behind it.

Maybe in the summer you can run some thicker oil, but that is just a band aid for the real issue.

Do an oil change and i bet you will notice the pressure go up slightly.
