Im studying Mechanical Engineering at a 2yr school. Ill be trasfering to the University of Dayton next year for my 4yr degree.

I'm a dual major at Fairleigh Dickinson University...biology and chemistry. I graduate this semester and will be going into immunology research :rocks:

Nowa days its almost impossible to get a good income job to support a family on without a HS diploma and atleast a 2year tech college degree or similar. I say almost because some people do it, but for many... sadly doesn't work out for them.

holy resurrection batman

anyways, i'm going for accounting at the college of new jersey (nobody knows it) so my car fund is about to take a nice bump up as I just started one of two paid internships

This thread is almost 2 years old....

My major is Business Marketing with a minor in General Business and Advertising and Promotion.

I currently make more than the national average wage as a college student and hope to continue putting my business background to work after I get my degree. I need to make good money to support my car habits.

For people looking for advise on what to do, I suggest you do what makes you happy. I can tell you from experience that money IS NOT everything. If you really enjoy your job and make a bit less, you will be far more happy than the person that makes a bit more ane hates their job. Do what makes you happy, and your life will follow the same path.

Someone please explan to me how this makes any sense? So when you finish your bio or chem degree your going to start the crimal justice program? Anyways...
Going to U of M for nursing.

Pre-med isn't a degree, its just a set of classes that you are required to take. You need a 4 year degree to get into med school. I knew a girl that got her degree in music and got into med school. Thats how it makes sense :thumb:

Mechancal Design... Im in it just for the degree and knowledge so I can get a job to make some money for a few years. Then I want to become a full time inventor and own a business...

Pre med isn't a degree really, just a set of science classes needed to be taken to get into medical school.

Actually, getting a music or english degree while fufilling the Pre med requirements is just as good if not better then majoring in lets say, biochemistry. Either way the biggest thing for getting into medical school is grades. You can't slip by wwith a 3.0 like most do to get into college. For med school you need atleast a 3.5 with EC's out the @ss, and usually some kind of doctor shadowing. Its very competetive.

to the person above me. If you are already in college, i suggest taking biochemistry or something, biology is kind of seen as a copp out. But do whatever youd like, just a suggestion.

That's is why I am considering a more refined aspect of Biology and not just general Biology. But since I entered college with 22 credits and am ahead of the game, instead of graduating early I will prob double major in the aforementioned and possibly an area like English to ensure a diverse background. We'll see what happens.

I'd probably shy away from a double major. Especially if your planning on working while in college. Having a 4.0 in one major will look better then having say a 3.0 in two majors. Your going to have no time. From what I remember off the top of my head you'll need around 800 community service hours over your 4 years. At least 2 years leadership experience (like in pre-med club or something). And if the clubs pretty competive you'll need to get in sooner to work your way up. Something like 40 hours of physican shadowing, and another 40 in patient exposure. And its good to get in an internship durring your last two years. There's another big one I'm forgetting. Then you have score well on the mcats and if you don't have a 3.5 or better you probably should planning on spending another year to get the gpa up. Also something like 80% of people don't get accepted till their second or third time applying for med school. And if that happens you have to keep up on your community service shit because everything has to be current.

Personally I have HIGH Expectations. I bro is 27 his G.E.D and has had 3 jobs that gross 100K + a year. NO COLLEGE!

I plan on going to college for a General Degree in Business.
I am only 18 and started a new job in sales. I am paid more than people twice my age at the same store. I dont mean to get off track but alot of income depends on YOU.

I always say once I get an interview I have the job, I can sell myself. In my case a degree on my resume helps me get in front of the people I want to.

I'm taking fire science courses at my city college and finishing up my GE at a state university. Ironically, this is reversed of what most people would do.

Honors in Biology - 3rd yr. This yr. is a little hectic compared to other ones, This semester I have; Forensic Anthropolgy, Molecular Anthropology II, Ancient DNA, BioGeography, Health class in KIN, and Stats. Last semester was a little easier with Applied & Environmental Microbiology, A. Chem, some forestry class (elective, ha), and biology of food safety (not as easy as it sounds, LOL)..

Go to your local hospital or doctors officer and see if you could shadow a physician. That would look good on a MS Transcript. Also I hope you are doing some voulenteering.
