So I'm a college kid trying to make a few bucks here and there. Anyways, a guy I know has a '97 VR4 and wanted me to put new shocks in for him. I did the first one and taught him as he did the 2nd one. He was quoted at a shop for $250 front/$250 rear ($500 total) and he supplied the parts.

I'm not a pro by any means, but I've done a suspension install before on my '91 Stealth R/T and then on my '92 Talon. I did the front left in ~1 1/4 hr and the front right with guiding him in 1 1/2.

Anyways, what would you charge him? What about if I go back tomorrow and help with the rear? I said maybe half as much as a shop, but I'd like other opinions. Thanks!:thumb:

Depends how confident you are. If you know you can do it right and what not, charge him half. Just know your partially responsible if something were to happen.

Exactly why I don't want to overcharge. But I am 100% confident in my ability to get this done because I've done it in 2 of my own cars. And I wouldn't do it to someone else's if I hadn't done it (with success) before.

Thanks for the response.

Agreed, 200-250 sounds good, unless you guys are good friends.

Nope, just met the guy. We're both on 3SI and he got my IM name from there. I think I'll make it half.

id say 100-150 and tell him to bring a case of beer(newcastle/heine/sam adams, not some bud light watered down piss) on his way to your place when he drops the car off.

id say $100-$150 and a case of decent beer. Oh, and if he has a girlfriend...... well..... I think you know where I'm going with this........
