Alright here is the deal I have a 1985 Fiero gt 3spd thm125c automatic 2.8 lt mpfi v6. Now PLEASE do not bash me for this there is no point i am going to do it anyway. I am putting this in this sub forum because i can't really think where this belongs

Some friends and i have seen almost everything done to this car and I was thinking hey what has not well a decent turbo 4cyl with a decent tranny. So here is the deal. I am looking at the 4g63 from an anything (if it has the same bolt pattern) Oh and trust me it will fit- one of us has a 500ci motor in his Fiero. Never been taken. I am looking for more of a race car not a drag car.

1. I will need a transversely mounted fwd tranny that will be able to hold to 300hp and 350tq to the wheels. Out of a what? Cost? Where do i get it? Does anyone know the weight of that tranny?

2. How much is the 4g63 going to run me for the cheapest? Where? Out of a what? And I need to know the weight of that engine.

3. Has this motor ever been carbureted?

4. If this cannot be carbed with out making my own manifold. then i will need to have a wiring harness. Do I have to use one that came with a 4g63 or can i use a aftermarket wiring harness? The Fiero could use a new harness as it is- being 20 years old.

I don't know if i am missing any questions but if there are issues other than complete and utter customization let me know.

Just take the stock trans out of a fwd turbo TEL.

Your best bet would be to find a 90-early 92 fwd turbo TEL so you'll have the motor/trans/wiring harness and all the other little misc shit you'll need.

Ok, WHO- WHERE -WHEN -WHY -HOW!?!?! Any and i mean any info you have will be great. I am on alot of different fiero forums and no one has ever heard of this before. Even being atemtped.

You're joking right? Have you never READ this board . There are TONS of fwd sticks pushing that mark and doing it with a breeze. A stonger clutch and flywheel would be the max that you would need for that kinda horsepower.

Why not just use the stock 5 speed out of another Fiero, they can handle a bunch of power and keep on going, you are better off putting a 3.8 turbo motor or a V8 in it, you will have alot of fabricating to do if you build this with a 4G63. If you stick with a factory trans then all you'll need is an adapter plate to mate the 4G63 to the GM tranny. Just my .02 though.

the getrag in the fiero sucks. don't let those guys fool you those 5 speeds suck and are moranomilious than the dsm fwd trannies more than you can even buy.

Can anyone of you try to get a hold of him and maybe get him to come to this froum or just get a hold of me at least. i really would like to talk to him all the guys at the firo forum would more then love to pick at this guys brain. and build thread that he has made or if he would make one would be more than helpful - this would be considered the first of this kind of swap in a fiero. so it would help anyone else to do this to. not just looking at the pictures.

Right now I'm in Cannon Falls, but I usually live in St. Paul and will be moving back fairly soon.

I looked for that picture, but couldn't find it. I was impressed though. i remember him pulling out of Porky's and spinning tires even though I think he was trying to be gentle on the throttle.
