Well, I really need to get a external wastegate and wanted to know if I should go ahead and get a new exhaust manifold to match.
Or should I just have on welded on to the stock manifold.
Do you guys have any recommendation's?
I currently have a 16g and will be upgrading in the future.

Thanks

Depends, are you sure you are going to stick with the stock mitsu ex housing on your next turbo and not going to a t3? You should prob get an estimate on everything to see what it would take to have the ex. wg. flange work properly on your manifold then see if the price difference is enough to where it would be worth sticking with it instead of upgrading to a sbr or similar style mani. It depends on how big of a turbo and other factors too.

I would just get the wastegate to attach to a new exhaust mani that you choose instead of welding to your stock mani.

If you plan on going with a mitsu exhaust housing go with SBR's cast mani, they come already flanged for an external gate. Really great product. :thumb:

Who makes a good wastegate. Trial? What size wastegate should I go with? The 38mm?

To have a waste gate put on my current setup would be $400.00 including the wastegate.
So I figured I would spend alittle more and put it all on myself.

Your not going to be able to properly do it yourself. Welding a SS flange to cast iron is hard enough for professionals. Both metals have to be heated up multiple times so they both achieve the same expanding and contracting properties. If you do it yourself w/ a wire feed welder its going to crack in no time and leave you stranded.

If your manifold is a stock 1g right now, your going to want to replace it anyways, at the bare minimun w/ a 2g ported manifold, as the 1g manifolds are notorious for cracking under higher heat.

I suggest purchasing SBR's new cast manifold w/ the unit pre drilled and tapped for an external wastegate. Its ready to roll for any turbonetics 35mm or Tial 38mm WG.

I suggest getting the Tial 38mm WG, its been around a long time, and has proven it self over and over again, and it works great.

Project tsi I think by do it himself he meant buy a good manifold and put it on him self cause he said spend more money and by trying to weld it on that woud cost less not more. Anyway I agree with the guys about buying a new manifold but I personaly would get a tubular that has a pre-made falnge off the collector and not the 1rst runner like you will see with just about all cast manifolds.

Yeah I already have the 2g ported exhaust manifold.
So with the sbr does the wastegate bolt on to the manifold or does it have to be welded? I thought it just bolted on.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get a manifold from sbr? On the their site it says they are back ordered.
I was at the dyno the other day and was not able to stabilize my boost. So I will need this soon and I dont want to have to wait to long.

What tubular manifold would you suggest?

How much could I sell my 2g exhaust manifold for?

Thanks
guys
