i was thinking about getting this bov just want some opinions. it states its a greddy and all the greddys in the classifieds here are well over $100 which is little to much for my pocket

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRED...ewItemQQcategoryZ33703QQitemZ8023976600QQrdZ1

i found a flange for $30 as well for this

and what are your guys opinion on the 1g bov's do they sound good? are they loud? cause the 2g stock bovs i cant here them for s**t.

That is not a real greddy type-s BOV. The real type-s has the greddy logo on the side of the BOV.

I have heard the 1g bov, they do sound good. It is fairly loud; but nothing crazy as a HKS SSQV, but its louder then the 2g BOV.

Hope this helps. Stay boostin

I guess i will give it a shot if it sucks then i will have to save up alot of money and buy a hks a true one :D

I just recently switched from my stock bov to a 1G BOV and I love it. It has a nice sound nothing to loud but people can definitely hear it as your driving by (if thats what your looking for) Anyways it almost has a nice whistle sound to it not like the 2g bov which is like a big WHOOSH sound. Plus, you cant beat the price of a 1g bov compared to others!

From a bargain standpoint, the 1G is your best bet. I have a GReddy Type-S on my GS-T, and I love it. It is currently vented though, something I'm not to excited about, but it can be fixed easily. A good friend of mine has the Type-S on his 1G, recirculated, and it's still very loud. The HKS SSQV is an awesome BOV, another friend of mine has one on his SR20-swapped 240SX, and it is just insane. The flutter of an HKS BOV is pure, unadultered sex. :thumb:

You really should be upgrading for performance purposes and not for the noise it makes. What other mods do you have? If you're pretty much stock, the stock 2g bov is fine. If you're running a little bit more than stock psi, a 1g bov is a smart purchase.

What you said is true, but I just though I would add to it.

Depending on the conidition of your 2g bov, you may be leaking boost at stock levels. Before I upgraded to my 1g bov, mine was leaking at about 8 psi, and I wasnt trying to crank the boost up at atll, 8 psi is lower then stock boost for a 2nd gen. When I upgraded to my 1g bov, I stopped leaking boost completley, and now can raise it to 15 psi with no problems.

I was just making a point that generally a stock 2g bov is fine up until 12 and then anything after that is reason enough to upgrade to a 1g or something else.

Im not worried about the performance or modding the car to go faster it seems pretty fast the way it is and with my luck i would do more damage then good and i know 100% if i try makeing it better it would backfire on me and end up running like crap cause i know nothing about tubro cars yet this is the first for me.

but out of the 2 the fake greddy or the 1g Bov which would you think would make a better whoosh sound

For everyone considering buying the fake Greddy BOV: In a recent article in a magazine dealing with the influx of fake/pirated aftermarket parts, a designer from Greddy commented on the fake Type S BOV's that have popped up on eBay. He said that they tested and dissected the fake one and found that the diaphragm that the fakes use is not oil-resistant and could fail or leak. We all know how much extra stuff is dumped into our intake tracts due to emissions.

I'll see if I can find the exact article.

My two favorite bov's are the hks ssq and the tial. The greddy leaks sometimes.....

For the budget racer though, you can't go wrong with the 1g. Its good to 25psi.

g all the way over the fake crap! If your leaving the car alone mod wise then go 1g cheap and reliable.

2 questions:

Do you have to replace your UICP to put a 1g BOV on?

Where's a good place to buy a 1g BOV?

What is your budget ( how much are you willing to spend on a BOV )? The best priced BOV would be a 1g BOV. Can't beat the prices on them. Plus they are good for some pretty high psi. :thumb:

I hope you aren't dumping the BOV to the atmosphere!! :(

To answer your first question: No, you don't nessesarly have to replace your uicp if you get a 1g bov, but its highly recommended. Sites like Slowboyracing.com and Extrememotorsports.com will sell a flange that will adapt a 1g Bov to your stock plastic piping.

To answer the second question: On line, places like eBay and the classifieds on this site are the best places to find good used 1g bov's.

No, because you can get a flange to go onto your plastic hoses. But it is recommened to purchase an UCIP. Dejontool has them already flanged for whatever bov you plan to get.

I would say ebay. And people are usually selling them in the classifieds section.
