Update on evading charges

the story Well here is an update on what happened from this experience.

In idaho i ended up getting a misdemeanor eluding and was sentenced to 50 days house arrest, $500 fine, and 1 year probation.

I went to court in utah three days after I got off house arrest and i got misdemeanor wreckless driving and evading and was sentenced to 35 days in jail, reimburse the state for my time in jail, $1500 fine, 1 year probation at private institution, and go through an anger management program.

I also had my license suspended for 1 year because i of the evading charge. After 1 year i can have my license back if i fill out an SR-22 form and have it for two years otherwise i get my license after those two years are up.

Before anyone asks, "Did you learn a lesson?" Yes, I did. It was stupid and i should of pulled over. I didn't and i had consequences for it. I feel that the consequences were a bit much but its to late now. Anyways, i was released from jail today at 9:00a.m. and just figured I'd tell everyone what happened.

just wondering if you hired a lawyer for your case?? That seems a bit extreme as far as punishment goes.

In Idaho I just had a public defender but in Utah i hired a lawyer. I doubt it did much good since my lawyer went to lunch with the prosecutor.

around here you're lucky if you can get evading dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor. It seems like you got hit pretty hard, but they didn't screw you over for life, which was awful neighborly.

Always a good thing to learn a lesson, bummer at the cost, but at least no one got hurt before it was learned. I'd say that you made out ok overall.

I think you got off pretty easy, consider yourself lucky. What are you going to do with your car while you cant drive it? (I need a car... :shhh:

i dont know. Around here my sentence is pretty harsh. Especially the fact that they basically charged me for the same crime twice. Eluding and evading are the same thing.

As to my car, it's up for sell cause i need money and can't use it for a year anyway. I figure i'll sell this one and buy a newer gsx when i can drive again.

I think it did since he was able to sweet talk your felonies down to misdimeanors.

I know it seems like that but Idaho had dropped it to a misdemeanor before i even had a court date and utah said they would if i waved the prelim hearing so my charge being lessened was pretty much a given from the start. I will give my lawyer credit for getting me out of jail in utah since i would of been stuck there otherwise when i was first arrested but after that he didn't do anything. Even when I called his office and left a message he did nothing. We had to threaten to find a new lawyer for him to even acknowledge my call. :mad:

Well... the food sucks, most of the guards suck, it's boring as hell, and I hated it. However, there are some cool people in jail that their only problem is they can't stop doing a drug. I'll miss talking to some of the people but not the environment there.

I just got caught doing the same thing you were, I do not know why in the world i ran from the police, i was 66 in a 35, it was one of the stupidest things i have done. I just pannicked and punched it, knowing my car is faster than theirs, and being able to get away in the past, led me to think i would avoid this measily 250dollar ticket by running.

i Saw the cop parked on the side of the road when i passed him at 66mph, when he started chasing after me he clocked me at 80, i turned into a neighborhood, took a bunch of random turns, this is a nieghborhood very close to my house, so iknew it pretty well. I lost the cop, i parked my car for a few minutes in an alley. I then decided to head home, thinking i was off the hook , but still paranoid. i pull out on another main street driving normally. When i notice another cop behind me, i downshift gun it take ar ight turn at a stop light and conitnue on, i gain about 20 cars on the cop before i make another right turn onto another street, im going down this street, when everything around me lights up and the lgith keeps on folloowing me, i saw it was the bird. i continue driving, then i see the spot light shinning in someother direction, then it dissapears, i look outside i could not see anything or hear it, so i head home, i park my car, i sit in it for a few seconds, then everwehre around me lights up again, and 7 cops cars come from both directions infront ofmy house. i threw my keys on the roof of my car, got out and put my hands up.

My car was towed, they said it was just going to be stored, and not impounded, i went and got it out yestarday(61dollars) both of my back tires have bad bald spots on em, and my front mount is dented up pretty bad, my car also doesnt seem to want to roll.

I am being charged with evading a police officer, and endangerment to society. and a bunch of traffic tickets, like running redlights, not yeilding to emergencey vehicles, 50 over speedlimit. This is my frist offence so i am hoping for the best of it, i am a straight edge kid, i drink once in a while, i do absolutly no drugs/smoke, my only hobby is fixing up my car and messing around with computers. I know that i am most likely goign to loose my liscense, and spend some time on probation and maybe jail time and fines. I can work to pay off the fines or sale my car, i am hoping it is dropped to a misdomenor, and i also am worried about jail time, i don tknow what i would do if i had to spend that much time away from my family.

some people just dont learn.... .what are you doing trying to run away in a 15 second car.... i dont knwo about az, but here in portland, these crown vics can do a lil faster than 15 secs.................. NOT WORTH IT PEOPLE......... u wont get away, if u do, ## lucky cuz it probably wont happen again........

your rear tires dragged when your vc locked up. OMG

No effence dude but I am really surprised you posted that. I would never consider such a thing. Blowing redlights, hauling ass through residential neighborhoods you could have killed someone.

This website as most respectable websites frown upon this sort of thing. Which really surprises me that you would even post it. It's bad enough you did it, now you look like an asshat to everyone. :thumb:

If you see lights in your rear view PULL THE **** OVER. :cool:

Seriously though, it will be cheaper if you just pull over. Most cops are pretty cool and will drop the fine down a good amount if you just pull over and be cool. Running pisses them off.

EDIT: even if you get away all they need is your license plate.

I honestly doubt you'll get it reduced to a misdemeanor. Hope you learned a lesson from that.

No offense to the guys getting nailed for this but what the hell are you thinking while doing this??? Why in the hell are you guys driving that fast in the first place

. It's not like you're going to get to wherever you're going that much faster. In my 9 years driving, I have yet to receive a ticket...it really isn't hard to drive like a sane human being. You deserve every single bit of punishment they dish out to you.

um yeah i was overseeing you vehicle profile and i would of never attempted to evade a mini van let alone police.

but seriously the worst is behind you, its what you do from now on that matters. you cant change what happened but yet grow from it. save your car and work on it you got two years till your back in the game.

People, stop being dicks.. He knows what he did was wrong, he's a good kid that effed up big time. All I have to say is HIRE A LAWYER. Yes, it will be expensive, and Yes it may end up being more than the fines were in the first place, however having felonies/misdemeanors on your record is not good.

Then you should talk to that lawyer about sueing the company that towed your car. Because you're going to have quite a bit of damage to fix. (although considering you added AWD as a modification, that is going to be hard to get.)

i Know i made myself look like an asshatt to people online, but in all seriousness i dont care, if i have a bad reputation from a bunch of people on the internet who think they are god, in reality you are not! the only perfect person to ever live ended up being crucified on a cross, everyone makes mistakes, i know what i did was wrong, it is in my past now and i know i cannot change it, i just have to make the best of my situation.

Im arguing back and forth witht he towing/impounding company who towed my car right now, this is most likely goign to end up in small claims court, my dad is good friends and works for one of the senators here in AZ, I am going to be talking to him soon about getting my car fixed.

i have been talking to people who have been in the same situation as me, and they have had their charges all dropped down to misdemeanors, but i really do not know what to expect. I have never been charged with anything before.

if i do not end up selling my car, i will learn how to built the engine, i will strip it for all of its accessories and use it as a track car.

To the poeple who are saying that my car would not outrun a mini van, i updated my profile. and my time was when i fist got my car with a decent sized boost leak, exhust manifold leak on 14psi.

trying to outrun the cops is retarded, VERY VERY VERY VERY few times will you suceed. Its just not worth it.

I've done it once, and I (fortunately) got a nice cop. Though I didn't exactly go all out and try to evade them, I just speed up as fast as possible when I saw the cop behind me, whip off the road, then I realized I should just pull over. He said he could have charged me for evading, but he said he wouldn't.

we can get a mod to sticky all these posts about people getting caught so they'll learn. I've had plenty of friends run and get away, on motorcycles, rockets that do 10-12 second 1/4 miles, not a car. A bike can be hidden in a backyard, in an open garage, on it's side in a ditch, a car cannot. Why would you "get paranoid" and sit for a few minutes, then try driving again? A cop who was outsmarted will likely stay around the area for a good hour or so just so his ego will be served. I hope you learned something from this. I'm not going to call names because we've all made mistakes but next time you see the red/blue maybe you'll think of a little green and slowing down vs damage to your car from towing/prison bars/striped clothing/running over some kid chasing his ball into the street.

I still don't get why you ran AGAIN after you almost got away once. Odds are that he never got your plates so he couldn't prove it was you who passed him and with the cop behind you and the right turn you might have been fine and just denied it was you.
