Just curious on ya'lls thoughts... I have a 91' stock talon tsi fwd . anyone know specs from factory on engine, weight, gear ratio's...? Ne ways my friend has this stupid 01' GLI, dont get me wrong its nice ass car but he thinks its so badass with a 2" exhaust. duh its quicker. What do you think it would take to beat that ho. Im thinkin for christmas and my birthday right after i should be able to pull of a full 3" exhaust..down pipe, o2 housing, cat back. along with apexi fuel controller, apexi boost controller. That should easily take him out running w/ the stock turbo right? I plan to put i nice alarm and turbo timer on it to. If i do those mods. what will be incompatible, and what are the limits of the stock turbo. what kind of hp and 1/4 times will it run. If i can pull off 300hp i will be fastest at my school. hehe i can finally put the guy to shame who spent 2g's putting a cam in his auto z28. thanks for your input

You should really hit up the basics. Your profile says you have an open air can. First use should make sure your car is in perfect working order. Plugs, wires, cleaned intercooler, fuel pump rewire, oil, timing belt should be checked and/or replaced if needed. That's a start. Next should be a CatBack exhuast set-up, downpipe, and boost gauge. You said you are in school so im going to assume you have a limited budget therefore I would go with a MBC over an electric one. Turn up the boost a few pounds and that GLI should be dispatched rather quickly. The cammed-Z28 will be a tougher fight. You should be in the mid to high 14's with these 'basic" mods but from a roll you'll be more devasting to your opponents. Before as well as after these mods try to get your buddy with the Z-28 to run you from a roll to see where you are at. That's just my say. I'm sure you're gonna get more responses

ya it came w/ ngk plug wires, im changing the plugs next week.. ngk ones, and the timing belt is like new. how do you clean a intercooler, and why would you rewire the fuelpump. i just changed oil yesterday, i change it every 2-3k

thanks for ya'lls posts very helpful

how in the hell do all these people pass High School nowadays.....is reading not a requirement anymore???

all of this is in the VFAQ's

good god people:rolleyes:

and in our very own little performance "recipe" area.

But yea, save your money on the turbo timer and the electronic boost control.

Just drive nice for a minuit or 2 to cool the turbo, and then run a manual controller for $40 bucks or so.

actually i've read alot on this site i just forget where i found it, and cant rememberb if it was on here or somewhere else and what it said. It's just easier for me to ask and get put down then have to search and im was curious if anyone has raced one before. I talked to my friends more today and he was saying even though its 6spd once it hits 120 its a terd, and the fact the driver is a slow shifter... I love winning from driver skill it makes my car feel sexy...
