oh and found a few more... stock body parts when he first picked up the car, threw the wheels on and took a few shots

oh and btw, for peace of mind he almost never pushed the car. Never brought it to the track, never dyno'd it (much to our teasing for building that hot of a car and never getting numbers on it), and had a few too many tickets to drive it too fast. It was a shame to see all that power go to waste, but hey, at least you got a car that was babied

yeah it is Marks old car.. took a month to get from jersey to phoenix but it was worth the wait.. yeah the anti dsm sticker was on there when i got it but ive gone anti stickers so i took it off. ive done small stuff up to now like seats, harnesses, dericing the engine bay.. ROFL one of the turbo's is taking a shit on me and starting to blow oil thru the seals so its time to go thru everything. I mean EVERYthing.. The reason i bought this car is because it had all the body mods done already and the engine bay was left untouched to a degree.. the beast will be put to sleep till feb when it will come back alive with a little bit more kick to it and one of the blowdryers missing ;) as for insurance... iam rolling on my dealer plates so i dont need insurance.. but my bike and my truck give me a nice swift kick to the wallet every 6 months so i could imagine how the supra would be..thank you for the the compliments and to marks friend.. tell him thanks a bunch for everything..

Sooo I'm so incredibly tired of problems with my car. It's now breaking down on me every 2 weeks. In the last 6 months I've easily spent about 3,000 in repairs...

So a few days ago i noticed an oil leak, a VERY BAD oil leak. I take it to go get fixed at razarri ford Mitsubishi. I leave it after work and fill out an early bird form and drop off my key. I call the next day to find out that the dealership was sold to gropetti, but only the ford part. So they cant fix my Mitsubishi. They go to get my key but can't because the shop is closed and only mechanics can open the door to where my key is currently being held. Long story short they have to call all sorts of higher ups, and I get to work late.....

So now my car is leaking oil worse than ever and my turbo is smoking....

I decide maybe a new car is better, and I should trade in my eclipse. So I find a 2002 ford focus SVT, with a full body kit, a nice wing, recaro seats and pedals, tinited windows. 6 speed 170hp 145 tq and 2 door hatch with 41741 miles for $10,999.

:::HERES ANOTHER PROBLEM:::
I owe 4000 sumthin on my eclipse. I was looking for a dealer trade in, but I'm not sure he'll accept it. So let's just for the sake of argument say he does accept it. The remaining balance goes on top of the focus.I can only do this if my insurance and payment are about 500 a month or less.

So tonight I'm taking my girlfriend home when "BOOM" my ####ing clutch goes out. So tomorrow when I go to the dealer I wont have my car to see if he'll accept it as a trade... So I'm kinda ####ed...

Now I have to get my car towed to Selma to get it fixed(40 miles away)... and thats a hassle in itself as I dint want to pay 200 dollars for a tow so I have to rent a tow hitch, get a friend to take his dads truck and tow it to Selma.. where the dealership will be closed and I'll have to leave it when they're closed without talking to anyone about the problem.

This is becoming so common and I'm so done with this. I just finished an ad on here, and if the dealer won't accept it I'm thinking of ebaying my car away. I absolutely love my eclipse, but it's nickel and dimeing me to death and I just can't afford it any longer.

so basically its riced out? :tease:

why not fix the problems yourself? where is the oil leaking from and fix it. you sure your oil leak isnt fluid from the clutch hydraulic system, thus a dead clutch now? maybe its just time for a new turbo, they dont last forever you know. all the problems you state can happen on any car, theyre all maintenance and wear items.

Haha yeah basically it is riced out, but it isn't bad looking. Someone put a lot of time and effort into making the exterior look nice and they did a good job.

Yeah I'm positive it's oil. Haha i can tell the difference :D it's been leaking out about a quart and a half of oil a day. My clutch line blew out tonight, and yes it's leaking too, but thats separate.
This car has about 112k on it. It's time for a new one that won't need regular maintenance for a while.

Get a lower mileage DSM. For $11,000, a very nice 2gb Eclipse/Talon can be had, even a GSX.

I darn sure wouldn't get a Focus. You will really know what problems are then.

I agree with the clutch. Check your fluid. Also, if you drive the car like a family car it will last longer. If it's driven like a race car, expect to do much more maintainance.

Good Luck

If you can't keep up with the problems, Sell it to someone that will actually fix it. The problems you had mentioned are MINOR. EVERY CAR breaks, It doesn't matter if it's an 06', It's going to break. This is how the myth about dsm's always breaking, Got started. Now sell the car, Then go spread the rumor that they are unreliable, And always break. :notgood: I doubt anyone will notice you're gone from the boards. Goodbye.

ill sell you my reliable dsm for 11 grand. I bought this thing. And dident plan on saving money but I need money for an apartment. Its reliable 84,000 miles. Everything works.

Well, the reliablilty of a Focus will make you wish you kept your DSM.

Looking for a reliable daily driver in a Ford dealership is like looking for a wife in a whorehouse.

I consider leaving the DSM community everytime my car breaks down, but then I get it fixed ,drive it and I fall in love with it all over again.

My car hasn't run in 6 months, its just sitting in the driveway, I'm gonna give it a home in a storage shed until next summer when I pull her out to get repaired. She needs a new head gasket, lifters, 2 new 02 sensors, new windshield.

Yes, I have been without my car for the last 6months, clutch problems in june, then rebuild in july due to blown rings, got the motor back in august, but shop let me car sit till september, september I decide to do it myself, october, custom fuel rail brackets are to thin and bend up fuel presseure rising, fuel starts to leak. Send the car to offical guy who knows what he's doing, fixes fuel rail. Then I have him fix the whole fuel system and decide to rune Emangae and e01 boost controller. Now almost december, might get my car back.

My car has spent more time on a toe truck these last 6months than it has under boost.

Just save your money, and fix what you got, plan out what needs fixing, and when you'll have money to fix it, if you can't do that, sell it, and I bet the person who does pick it up, won't have the same problems you have, they might, but I doubt it.

Well my car is my only form of transportation. This isn't something i can save for while the car is sitting around. I commute 30 minutes to work everyday. if I don't have my car I cant get to work, thus I will make no money I could save.

I also don't have 11k laying around, the focus is at a dealership which I can finance. The problems my car is having are little problems, but 40 clutch line 40 dollar valve cover gasket, 2 hours labor 145, plus whatever is causing my other oil leak... This stuff adds up real quick.

My car has been breaking down on me one time after another. I can almost say "Well a week has gone by it should break down now." and boom my car breaks down on que.
I don't have the money to keep taking it to a shop. My local shop got bought out and doesn't exist anymore, the closest one that can fix it is now 40 miles away. Thats a 200 dollar tow everytime my car breaks down.

The focus is a very reliable car despite what you guys all said. Also if a ford breaks down every local shop can fix it. It's not like a mitsubishi where everyone cringes at the thought of working on it. It will definitely save me money. The gas mileage is way better, and I can put 87 in , and with 41k on it it's not due to break down severly for another few thousand miles.

I'm a poor college kid, I don't need something fast and turbo anymore, just something reliable and cheap. The focus is my best bet right now compared to my car.

Dude, get the focus. Im in the same boat you're in with being in college and always having to rely on a broke A$$ dsm. This is a hobby to i'd say most people on this board. My gst is my only form of transportation besides my feet. I walk A LOT. I do most of the work myself except rebuilds.

I drive a 92 non turbo as my everyday driver. I've had it since 2000. I at my own discretion replaced the engine and trans in 01 as the previous owner did nothing for maintainance. It had 130,000 on it then and now has almost 250,000 on it now. I absolutely trust it to go anywhere. I've performed the maintainance as it was needed. Now, is it perfect? No, but it's as reliable as anything out there. There are a lot worse cars to own. I can recommend a few, but may step on toes. I see repeat repairs every day on all kinds of cars. If you don't do your repairs right, don't do your maintainance, and just drive the daylights out of it, sooner or later you're going to walk.

That's my 2 cents.

It makes me sick to think of me without my talon, but I may be leaving it soon. I bought the car aware that it would have problems, and that I would need to do a good deal of fixing up to it, but recently it has gone just too far. Unfortunately for me I am a student and no longer have money to fund my car with. Since I have had it the whole suspension and braking system has been replaced, a new clutch and flywheel have been installed, new wheels and tires, other basic maintenance, and now I am doing some more engine maintence. :( . I have simply run out of money for the car, my parents will not let me keep it anymore :toobad: . I'm sure that the next owner will be very pleased that the car has a great deal of money put into repairs on this car. I have loved my time with you guys and all the help that you guys have provided for us newer dsmer's.

My next car will probably be a 1992-1998 BMW 325is or 318is depending on how much I can sell the talon for. I just want something that handles well and is more reliable than my talon, and the mileage of the BMW's is also a nice factor. I know that I will no longer be able to run ridiculously fast 1/4 miles for low cash or have the legendary awd launches, but instead I'm going to try to get into autocross.

I can't thank all you tuners enough for all the help that you provided with my car. I hope that sometime in the future (when I have money) I can come back and maybe get a 2nd generation awd :sneaky: . I hate to say goodbye to all of you but I have no other options for now. Thank you dsmer's for the great time I had with you.

Ok everything was fine until you said BMW, are you aware that BMW parts are VERY MUCH more expensive than DSM parts? Nevermind the insurance is going to be outrageous. BMWs are not that reliable, pick a toyota or something with a good reputation.

But whatever you decide, have fun.

Alright, I'm not completely sure what will end up replacing the talon  , basically I just wanted to thank all of you that helped me out on my car and say how great this group is. I can only hope to be back with you guys in a few more years. Thanks.

I can't see how it makes financial sense to get rid of a car you still owe $4K on to finance another car. If you have to get a small loan and fix the known problems on your car. Dropping a few hundred dollars on some seals is a whole lot less cheaper than getting a new car.
