I've been reading the forum for the past week and it's been a big help, deciding what to do and some simple fixes, but i decided to put off modding my car untill it runs properly.

I just got a 92 eagle talon AWD A/T last week for $1,100. The body doesn't have any major damage and very few scratches ect. but the engine on the other hand has a few problems, such as low compression on 2 cylinders due to some bent valves. The car runs and works ok but just doesn't have much power. A valve job done by the mechanic on it will cost around $1,600 and if i pull the head and take it in it'll cost anywhere from $600-$1200. I also have thought about doing it myself, and am wondering how hard and how much time it will take? and about how much will it cost?

In the meantime though i have a cracked exhaust manifold and seeing as that seem's pretty straight forward i'm going to do that sometime soon before i fix the valves. What exhaust manifold is recommended? On ebay there is one for $160 but it fits a evo III turbo and i have a stock, would their be anyway to make it fit on my car?

Thanks in advance.

if its your first time rebuilding a head i suggest you take a week of downtime at least. taking off the head is no problem but id but a complete head set (gasket kit) also make sure you have a dial indicator and feeler gauge to rebuild, also the biggest is a torque wrench. do alot of research before hand and its always helpful to have someone there that knows what they're doing. also when you take the head off get a level and see how straight it is, most people recommend shaving the head no matter what, but i only do it if the head is warped. and you might wanna get new head studs. also did you do a leak down test to see why you have low compression?

also id just go with a ported 2g manifold trust me unless your going for high hp its going to be good enough for you. and also the 14b and 16g have the same exhaust compressor bolt pattern so that manifold will work for you

Also if you are rebuilding I would suggest upgrading to a 14b. Not that the turbo you have is that much smaller but it is still smaller nonetheless. Can find good 14b's for about $150 on here. But he was right in saying that a ported 2g manifold is good enough. Until I started getting into the 60trims I am going to stay with the 2g manifold. For what minimal gain's it will net by getting a tubular or EVO III manifold it is well worth the investment.

Well, in comparison to a 1g 13b manifold, the 2g manifold is immensely better. You'll notice a huge difference. HOWEVER, remember that you have 390cc injectors and M/T 1g's have 450cc injectors. You cannot upgrade your injectors without a logger and S-AFC2. And due to this fact, I would recommend keeping your boost level stock. Or you will possibly cause damage to your engine.
