Congratulations to Shepherd! :thumb: Nothing short of freakin amazing.

Awesome job John, glad to see our motors kicking some @ss. The thing that we think is great is that he is going up against some big backed factory drivers with tons of money. And then here is Shep Racing doing the drivelines and Buschur Racing doing the motors, out here in little side towns of Ohio showing them whats coming. Thats great in my mind, good job John and keep it up.

Nick,

Did you guys notice the windshield flex? Watch the numbers in the corner of his windshield.

Yeah, I saw that. You can also see the windshield flex if you look at the reflection of the defroster vents. I guess that's why some cars brace it with a vertical metal bar down the center of the windshield.

Congrats on the time, John!

It varies with car design... Windsheild span and which thickness of lexan you get...

Some really thick stuff has the least flex... The thinest could'nt even make one run w.o a brace...

I have a lot of catching up to do answering questions and hopefully things will calm down a little since racing season is over.

On the windshield, We tried running the percy speedglass 3/16" and was told it would not need a brace and you can make it look oem..they were wrong. It looks oem but needs a brace.

I have finally found the way I like to launch the car and will most likely use the new nx progressive nitrous controller to bring more in on the top end. Remember this year was just trying things and changing things to see what works and doesn't.

As for future goals, I guess the only things left are the hks skyline record and yes I think it will happen unless hks brings that car back out.

Along with everyone else, congratulations on the time John. It's good to know you plan on going for the AWD record, it's just a matter of time I'm sure. I absolutely love the in car camera and I'm sure that I speak for every one when I say that we appreciate your involvement with the DSM community.

That lexan flex is scary, and it definitely couldn't have helped with your aerodynamics at that speed and being convex. I guess that with the aerodynamic improvement and the new nitrous system, the record is as good as yours!

Go get'em John!

P.S. Your profile still has the 8.13, time to change it!

I bet you'll be able to shave 3/10ths off no problem :) good luck and i'll be keepin my eyes open!

all that can be said is that run is nothing short of amazing. congrats shep :thumb: :talon:

The NX controller is a great product..

We used one on a BIG olds engine... The car could actually hook up after installation and pulled harder than ever once moving out down the track.

As for a brace consider cuting a spar like on a airplane wing from flat lexan or speedglass... cut a curve matching the windsheilds shape and support the sheild using the edge of the lexan... this will produce a narrow barely noticiable brace yet still be very strong and light weight..

Jshep eliminated Gary Gardella at Budds Creek-7.81@185 to Gardella's 8.0@185! He must be a happy man...finals should be anytime now...He will be facing Jason Hunt in the finals...Hunt ran 7.7@195 earlier so I hope Shep has something in his bag LOL!

Uptdate:

Update-Unfortunately Shep lost in the finals to Jason Hunt-8.2 @ 184 to Hunt's7.6 @ 196....He will catch up to them soon enough. Maybe he will do well at the World Finals at Norwalk.:dsm:
