Ok so I might be getting a decent 84 Fiero for next to nothing....so I'm wanting to get rid of the iron duke 4cyl....well instead of an ecotech swap...what about a 4g63 swap...i have extra engines laying around...what do you guys think???

I think it would be awesome if you have the resources to make it work. Have alot better traction than a fwd.

I've seen a picture of that exact swap, so it can be done.

Just wondering if you had a link or anything or if it was just one of those things where you look at it and keep going without saving it? I would love to see pics of this swap and sounds like a great idea.

It was on NABR and I don't think they like outside linking...

That is awesome! Anyone want to buy my car so I can do that! :D :thumb:

thats a nice swap, and that white fiero you got in that pic looks mint as fook :thumb:

My buddy has a newer model Fiero GT w/ a swapped 305 V8, it runs 12.6-12.7 and launches like a bat out of hell with the RWD/rear engine combo.

Sounds like a Fiero on steroids at the stoplights too, scares all the ricers away LOL!

Fiero GT

The GT is easier on the eye than the notchback's.

You can also get kits to make them look like a lamborghini, ferrari, etc. But that takes away the sleeper idea

I think they have a kit available so you can put a Northstar V8 in them. I'll have to dig around though.

There's a lot more to it than that. Typically for the lamborghini kits, the frame of the car has to be cut and lengthened to accomodate the body. Then the wheelbase has to be extended as well to get that wide look. the "kit" is typically nothing more than unpainted body panels - everything else you have to do yourself. It's a lot of work, and you'll dump a lot of money into it quick, but it'd be a hell of a lot of fun. I'm going to do one sometime soon (but not a lambo, they nickle and dime you to death on details).

There's a guy around my area with that swap, he's going to eventually turbo the northstar...that will be a beast.

I've done the V8 conversion on a Fiero, and also a Ferrari F40 body kit, and it was exciting to drive. But it was a lot of work, and the fit on those body kits is horrible. I also had to build everything to attach the body to the car, it was basically just a shell with NO way to attach it. I would not do that again. The V8 conversion was the easy part, compared to those blasted body kits.
Now here is what I want to do...put my spare 4G63 in my 1976 Fiat X1/9 :rocks: Go from about 85 horsepower to something in the 300 range, on a 2200 pound car (I think it is something like 1850 empty). That would be cool ;)

Some Fiero Kits: Most of them seem to run ~$5000 for everything. Then you add copious amounts of labor and a few grand in paint and body....

Wow, a couple of those are as bad as the old VW kits. But the GT-40 kit looks okay.

The Fiero was a damned raw deal, and it should have gotten a lot more from Pontiac than it ever did. But of course, there was the usual GM mindset, and a turbocharged V-6 would have put the shame to the thunderchicken, never mind the Vette.
I always thought the nose of the GT was just too much like a Dustbuster. The rest of it came out pretty nice.
