It's a Toyota with less miles the your DSM probably. It will probably be just about the same performance wise, but with a bigger aftermarket considering the engine, and more expensive parts and maintenance. If you want to, do it. If it were me, I'd just look for a MKIV Supra or a SC300 with a 5 speed. Although if you have the spare dough, pick up an SC300 on the side.

The is300 isnt AWD. So that will be something you will miss, especially in the winter.

I believe they are the exact same 2JZ-GTE motor, except the higher compression version, also found in '92-'99? Lexus SC300's. And yes, a Getrag 6 speed will bolt up, of course with some other minor work. I have a friend using this transmission in his SC.

The manual ones are quick, 215hp/218tq and nice top end.

i agree. Also, they are rock solid reliable and, as numerous others have said, benefit from the aftermarket centered around the 2jz engine. Aside from the lack of awd, it's a good choice.

RWD is the next best thing.

you gotta decide what you want.
the IS300 is a nice car, then again... so it the eclipse
if i was in your shoes, i would keep the eclipse.
if you really want to sell it and buy a different car, buy a STI! :D those are wicked!
haha
i would keep the eclipse, since i love my eclipse.. worked so damn hard for it.. saved up every penny i had for a year then finally bought my own, my very first and very sexy car!
keep the eclipse.. thats my opinion :D :p

I'm getting Deja Vu.

Lol, but really, do what you'd like to do. Decide if you'd rather have handling and luxury or speed and AWD. I'd get an IS in jet black if I could though.

i would get an sti or evo but i dont have 20k+ i can get an 02 is300 for 15-16k, idk yet still thinken, so u think the is300 will handle better then my gsx...

all depends on the car. The suspension will make or break it. if you have upgraded suspension on your eclipse then it will be about the same. Most likely you will not have as much body roll in the is like in the eclipse. Of course there will be 6 posts after this saying that awd makes all the difference but what are they really trying to prove. Awd has very little do do with handling in a sense.
