You mean he coasted into them as his DSM suddenly died :sneaky:

I've never had a close call with death..but every time I'm working under my car while it's on the scissor lift, all I think is 'that'd suck if this thing gave out.......'. Anybody else constantly have that on their mind while your car's on a lift?? :(

That's why I took some money and went to the local hardware store and invested in a couple sets of jackstands....they are just as important as your brakes when you are driving down the road.

Nonono..scissor lift.

If I'm under it when the car's on jackstands, I'm fine. It's when I'm standing under the car while working on it, which is 6 feet off the ground..that's what gives me the Final Destination thoughts :toobad:

no i didnt kill them, LOL. oh do i wish. my buddys got to them first and then the cops. funny how that worked out.

baseball bats + getting hit in the head w/ one= painful times.

one thing i did notice since i got hit is that i have blank moments. like im in the middle of doing something and i forgot what im doing, shit like that. i know it happens to everyone, but it happens alot to me. i have a not so good short term memory. and i get bad pains on in the spots i got hit at every now and then. other than that, im all good. :thumb:

yea i geuss another close call with death would have to be when i was udnerneath the car, i always try to keep the jackstands on AND the jacks under there to catch the car incase the stand fails.

well once it did, with the moving arround and jolting of some bolts a jackstand slipped while i was on my back underneath and i saw the car just drop on my face and stop about an inch away right when the jack caught it.

then on another occasion my friend was underneath and he got out said something and the car just fell shottond the jackstand out. we just paused and looked at the car and had a moment of silence right there.

I get that all the time, and I'm only 19, never had any serious cranial injury. I haven't had a close encounter with death yet, which is suprising considering some of the really stupid things I did when I was younger.

oh man...ive had so many close calls with death with my bike, but one close call that really left me goin "...am i sure im still alive?" was driving my oldsmobile, it was a serious blizzard out and i was late for something, i cant quite remember what, in any case im on the freeway hauling about 80+ MPH in snow covered roads, i passed this dude in a black car, im not sure exactly how, but he ended up tapping the back end of my car which sent me into a spin...so here i am sliding backwards face to face with this guy at 80 MPH with him maybe 2-3 feet away from me, but i manage to get the car spun around the rigth direction and into another lane but it continues to spin the other way and going further across lanes and in front of semis untill i hit the jersey barrier wall. it didnt feel like i had hit hard at all so i wasant sure if i had a serious hit and died or something, but after getting out of the daze i hoped out of my car and checked...there was a small hole in my back bumper. thats all, i was amazed that i was alive, let alone the car was barely damaged.

Not a close call with death but enough to make me respect cars on lifts;
In HS shop class someone was lifting a Ranger pickup on the lift and me and some friends were right outside the bay woring on his Laser. We we hear yelling and turn and look in the shop, the truck was begining to tilt forward off the lift about 5 feet in the air. My friends and I run and hang on the back bumper to balance the truck until they could get it back down.

Just to add to what your saying. At my granpa's shop while he was working on a car that was on the lift the chains somehow gave in and the car dropped. My grandpa got out in time but the cars front rear and side windows all shattered. Scary stuff

Mine isn't auto related but scary none the less. I was kayaking on the clackamas river near Portland, OR with my fiance and another couple we were friends with. We pumped up the kayaks(inflatables obviously) but didn't let them sit long enough in the water. Right after you launch is the worse rapid, that water channels through a gap in the rocks and dumps you right into another one. We hadn't gone this early in the year before so the water was high and a lot more powerful. Anyway we go first (2 person kayak, 1 rower the girls drank and read magazines)we shoot through the gap and right into the rock, I didn't have enough power to go to the side so the kayak folded and we flipped immediately. The water at this point creates a nasty undertow that tries to push you under the rock, luckily my fiance just ended up going down river and I manage to climb into the kayak again(which is still stuck against the rock) when our friends decide it is time to shoot through themselves. They hit me and flipped(stupid). Well I flipped again and this time my fiances sarong that had managed to stay in the kayak wrapped around my leg and was getting pulled under the rock...pulling me under. I kept trying to pull myself into the kayak but the water was to strong, everytime I came up to yell for help I was choking on water. I seriously thought I was going to die, finally I just held onto the kayak, let it push me against the rock and pushed against the rock with my legs as hard as I could...Needless to say we went to my friends apartments and hung out at the pool.

I live in Miami (and if anyone's been here they'll understand this). Every day I see my life flash before my eyes at least 3 times. I've been on roads going 50mph and the chick in the Hummer next to me is not only talking on the cell but also putting on makeup. The dude who thought up vanity mirrors on the driver's side should be shot.
