I bought my dsm and it has a custom external dump. It's a pice of 2" pipe comming off the side and goes about 12" down then ends. It really sounds horrible like a horrific exaust leak. Should I get it welded back into my exaust or what are my other options. It's a big 16g turbo and I have 2 1/2" exaust.

If you don't like the dump then just get it rerouted back into your exhaust.

You can either get a 2.5" o2 housing that re-routes or port the heck out of a 2G or evo o2 housing and sell the one on your car. I'm with you on the noise. :)

You should hear my external wastegate dump out. :barf: I don't like it.

Well that sucks. I think the dump sounds awesome. All of my internally gated friends have them. They work well and sound great. Very pissed off. Just see of someone will trade you for a stock o2 housing.

Steve

That DNP is set up for an external wastegate rerouted. It sounds like this guy is talking about an internal dumped to the 02. IMHO, I think they sound like shit as well. An external wastegate sounds good, but is $$ and not always necessary.
If I were you buy a Thrush muffler and weld it on, It'll be cheaper and sound better...

yo my buddy had the same problem with his
but the problem was the cop's and two tickes
so one drunking night we took his stock 250r muffler
and put it on his o2 dump and i could not belive that sounded soo good
you can fined those things all over :thumb: :talon:

i love my dump... it scares the #### outta pple and it added performance

Main reason why i got the 02 dump was to help eliminate creep with new EVO 16G but i personally love the dump sound. It's only loud when YOU make it loud. Other then that racing people and having that thing open up just about always gives you that priceless looking on the other guys face. :thumb:

I bet that didn't cure your boost creep did it? The key to solving boost creep is in porting if you're internally gated. An o2 dump is such a small factor in the whole equation that it's not needed at all. I just want to make this clear because a lot of people like you are being mislead into thinking an o2 dump will solved their boost creep. If you like the Honda sounding NOISE :p , that's a different story.

Whew.... No love for the dump..... :sosad:

This is good info. ^^^^

You are much better off selling the O2 dump housing to someone, then buy a rerouted one. Hell, you might even come out ahead on the deal. And it'll be much easier than modifying your dumped housing to make it a rerouted.

Aint that the truth. Most people fail to understand that the cause of creep is usually due to the wastegate flow path before the flapper door, not after. A dump isnt going to due anything beneficial if the passage in the turbine housing is left unported.

:) It took a while but I finally got you convinced. :D Does this mean you'll sell the external and join me on the internal side. :p

Well, on my 2G, with a stock exhaust mani., stock 14B, stock O2 housing, and a 3" cat-less exhaust, it would creep up past 22PSI from 15PSI. Did zero porting, cut my stock 2G O2 housing up and welded on a dump tube, and zero boost creep.

My .02

Every car is different and there are always exceptions, I guess you're one of the lucky few. You're the first person I know that cured boost creep this way without doing anything else. You could have easily achieve the same goal by porting the turbine inlet without going through all the trouble at the same time improve flow and spool up time.

No, I'll always swear by external. I've always known how to fix creep in an internal, and I know it works, but I've never been a fan of the process. ;) Somebody's gotta be over here on the external side. :p

Yea, that was the point I was getting it. However, when this was done, it was simpler for me to cut/weld the O2 housing, since I had nothing to port the turbo with.

However, the 14B does not need to spool any faster :sneaky:

Dont know abotu your setup but it did fix my creep, thanks.
