What models do the best and worst drivers drive?
These are clearly gross generalizations. I’m not looking to piss anyone off or talk trash, I just always observe drivers and have come up with general opinions over time. I suspect others here are keen car observers and have some thoughts too. Don’t get mad at me, if you’re on this forum I assume you’re smart and cool and not part of the problem.
Good
1. C4 Corvette. Usually an older gentleman who wants to cruise and enjoy the drive. Can’t say I’ve ever had a bad encounter with one.
2. Stealth/3000gt. I see a surprising number of these in great shape just cruising. For an older, inexpensive sports car, it’s surprising how laid back and cool these drivers always are.
3.OBS Ford. I still see a lot of these around. They’re always super well-maintained and the drivers are careful and courteous.
4. Late 90s/early 00s Buick sedans. They’re usually in absolutely awful condition and I want to assume that they’re going to drive horribly. But in actuality, they’re conscientious drivers who drive defensively
5. Older Volvos. Still see a few around and don’t think I’ve ever seen one speed, much less do anything reckless. Maybe people bought them because they’re safety-conscious and their driving reflects that?
Bad
1. I’m 99% sure that drivers of the first gen Acura TL sign a blood oath promising to be as inconsiderate and utterly stupid as possible. That’s gotta be my number one. Typically awful music taste (that they share with everyone via max volume) and even worse fashion sense. Should be a nice car, but could never buy one used cause I’d be positive that it was abused. Can’t believe insurance companies even insure this car anymore.
2. Mid 2000s Altima. I never see any that haven’t been in 10000 collisions. I automatically assume they don’t have insurance and haven’t changed their oil in 50k from the number of them that run stop signs and break down on the expressway.
3. Low trim charger/challenger/mustang/
camaro. The guys with v8s are typically fine but the “I want to look like I have a cool car for as little money as possible” 20something smooth guy crowd are usually total rods. I get a loooooot of these trying to race in moderate traffic. They tend to really, really like hair gel too for some reason.
4. Fist gen Ford Escape. I see a lot of young teenagers driving these like f1 cars. My guess is they’re cheap, safe, and awd so parents buy them as first cars.
5. Early 00s Impala. It’s probably been 10 years since I’ve seen one with an actual license plate and valid registration sticker. I’d be driving on eggshells if my car didn’t have a license plate. But they drive like lunatics.
(Dis)Honorable mentions: mid 00s Nissan Murano, every Chevy Equinox ever made, Nissan Juke, 00s Nissan Sentra, Chevy Cruze, Infiniti g35 and g37
Whew, lot of Nissan on that list for some reason.
What do you guys think?
