Finally got around to detailing my rig. She’s been neglected for quite some time and finally got the attention she deserves.

For any curious it’s a 16’ dodge 5500 Cummins. Fully deleted and tuned by yours truly. She has two names “The White Stallion” because she’s a work horse and “Flat Nasty” in honor of my completely blacked out 2nd gen I had that I named “Black Nasty”. I miss that truck everyday and will never find one as clean as she was.

2nd gens were really just the greatest. Miss mine every day. Don’t miss blowing up a 47re every year though. One day I’ll have money for a clean intense blue pearl 4 door long box 4x4 and I’ll do a nut and bolt full rotisserie restomod keeping factory appearance except for a 4” lift. Run a 24v and a zf6 or 5600 if they’re still obtainable... yeah it’s a lifelong dream.

Prepped for ceramic. Full paint correction took 20 hours over the last two days. Modified 95 looking cleaner than 99.99% of 2015s.

Yeah Chrysler has some of the worst autos. Luckily I did have 5600 truck though. She was a heavy beast though when I put a clutch in it. I used a transmission jack but it was a little intimating dropping it compared to the dsm.

The only reason I accepted an auto on the new truck is because it’s an Aisin. It seems to be holding up pretty good so far. It’s about to flip 30k so the manual calls for the first fluid and filter change. The fluid on the dipstick looks brand new but I’m going to change it anyways. Most of the time the truck isn’t empty. Honestly it rides better with weight behind it anyways.

I’ve never seen a 4 door in person. Kinda like a unicorn. Most 2nd gens around here anymore are so rusted and clapped out which makes me miss mine even more.

I meant extended cab, I wasn’t aware a true 4 door was even made. I can’t believe you let a clean 5600 truck go!

Never worked on a 5600 but the 47 wasn’t light either. Had to do that on an unheated shop floor in February overnight once. Used a motorcycle jack and it still nearly crushed me with the t case.

Now you’ve got me lusting after my unicorn 24v again.

Yeah they do exist. Look a picture of them up it’s kinda weird looking just because you never see them. But they do exist. That was what mine was extended cab with the suicide door in the back. I couldn’t have asked for a better spec. Black leather heated seats, the woodgrain trim. Long bed with a solid back window and the 5600.

The truck just wasn’t practical for me anymore. I had so many fueling and air upgrades I couldn’t pull a trailer without engulfing the entire road with black smoke. It was way to rowdy for a daily. My dog hated it because it was ungodly loud and obnoxious.

Biggest reason was my wife was pregnant and I needed something I could put the family in. Sometimes priorities take over your wants. I didn’t wanna sell it. But between my car, her car and the daily vehicles and getting the 5500 I wasn’t going to be able to swing it all and give them all the attention they needed. Black Nasty is somewhere in southern Virginia now. Hopefully she’s being treated right but that’s just wishful thinking.

FYI I did separate the t case from the 5600 when I pulled it. You are an animal for leaving it bolted together 👍🏼.

Almost time to replace the tires on one of my daily drivers. Decided to repaint a spare set of my Evo wheels and I’ll be putting on a set of All-Terrains. A small lift will also be added. Nothing too crazy but it’ll be a 235/65/17 after my trip to Atlanta

Changed the Spark Plugs in the Edge today. I've been running a LOT of VP Octanium/BoosTANE Pro in it, and the internet is full of reviews that say it CAKES your plugs in orange powder/material, so I was very curious. Pulled the plugs and found these.

Bear in mind, these plugs have like 60-80k on them. At minimum 30-35k of that has been tuned on 93 octane running HARD boosted 12 second passes and enjoying the hell out of the thing. And like I said, I've run a ton of MMT/Race Fuel Additives like VP Octanium and BoosTANE Professional, and this is the worst they look. Not bad at all. Obviously it's not 100% of the time, but it's not very rarely either.

Honestly thing I may buy a 5 gallon jug of this stuff and just run the Talon on 99-101octane full time. I'll change the plugs in the Talon a whole lot sooner than 60-80k miles. Lol.

Helping my brother get his affairs in order so we can get his 240sx out of my garage. It's been sitting for 23 years and about to undergo a full rebuild. There's a long story behind this car so I'd like to see it finished moreso than mine. It was one of the first built and turbocharged KA24DEs in the country and the build was halted due to some really bad luck and some really shitty people. Fortunately some of them are no longer in business.

Please not another LS swap, please not another LS swap...

😂. Nope. KA24DET. Unfortunately it seems Mitsubishi is not the only one discontinuing much needed parts. OEM oil pumps are no longer available and aftermarket are junk. He did source a good engine and the oil pump was in really great condition so we'll refresh it and go from there, otherwise dry sump.

Part of the reason for my changing the spark plugs was I wanted to adjust the gap a little more, and then switch to the 106 octane tune on my Ford Edge.

I did that today after letting the tank mix for the last week and running it til the current 93 octane tune adjusted itself to max timing/boost(these oem ECUs are like standalones, man. Super smart.) for 93 fuel, then uploaded the 106 octane tune(it's what the tuner recommends doing to prevent damage).

God this thing rips. On a crappy road, with zero traction(full on AWD burnouts), it just trapped 109.6 mph on my Dragy. LOL And I let out like...50-100 ft before the 1320 mark as well. God this thing is epic, but the transmission after more than one pass is hating life. I think 550 crank HP(it makes 400awhp on the 93 oct tune at max timing/boost) is the limit for these stock trans. It's a pity because with traction this thing would hurt the feelings of some of the faster cars that I just can't pull on, on the 93 tune.

To put it in perspective, I ran 12.9's @ 105mph with decent traction on 93. This thing with me letting out and zero traction did almost 110. Freakin' hilarious. I would love to see what this engine and a better transmission could do in a lighter platform.

I helped my son on his "X" body GM car today. We replaced the door locks that didn't work and the trunk lock that had had a screwdriver WAY to many times. Now it locks up! Not that its important but functional!
I also helped pull the inner fender out to remove the AC box since this is going to be a LS powered car and some goodies. ;):p:thumb:

I thought those came from the factory with the abs light on LOL
Sure seems like it. And being OBDI is a little less convenient than just plugging in a scanner that tells me the problem. With Preludes being similar platforms I'm surprised mine doesn't have the light illuminated. Not yet anyway.

Had a nasty vibration on my 96 jeep cherokee sport. New front axle u joints fixed it right up.
I just went through this in my 95 ranger. Replaced just the passenger u joint. 2 weeks later after putting in 4wd for the first time in like 5 years was enough to make the driver lock up too.

Said okay I’m done and rebuilt the entire front end, ball joints , tie rods , shocks and the radius arm bushings.

Just recently it has developed a slight rod knock while cold. Might be the end for the old girl sadly.
