I replaced the o ring in my power steering pump which was leaking all over my alternator. I also had to replace the alternator since the bearing was starting to seize up and it had this terrible squealing noise it made. I had a leak at the valve cover but also realized that 4 of the bolt holes were stripped. So i helicoiled them and swapped to another valve cover since i wanted to weld some fittings onto mine and also get it powder coated. i wired in the my BCS so don't mind the wires just hanging i was testing some things before sleeveing them. I also replaced a torn coupler off of the turbo. It's slowly coming together. The dump tube is temporary. When i swap turbos this winter i'll be routing the wastegate back into the downpipe. I still smell a little bit of oil i think it's either the turbo is leaking since the return line didn't do it any justice and could possibly be valve stem seals or bothLOL. I have another 2g head i'll probably swap over to in either winter or spring so no big deal. Finally found a set of the outlander caliper brackets so now i need to order rotors for them. The car is still a good looking car in my eyes and still get compliments on it while driving or parked up. Back to ordering more parts LOL.

So now the car is getting driven here and there i started having fueling issues. My first thought was to go to the tank and check the sock. Sure enough it was the issue. But when i cut it open i was baffled by the design:hmm: I got this filter for free from a friend so i can't say much about it but if you're looking for a fuel pump filter sock and your on amazon stay away. I was swapped in a new sock and was on my way. I threw in another new filter up front as well. Now that it was the beginning of summer it was getting hotter and my temps weren't ware i like them to be. I was using this bullshit cheap fan that came with the car but it was time to upgrade. I ended up getting a flex a lite fan. This is the same fan i had in my old galant and even with a half rad i never overheated even in NYC bumper to bumper traffic. The pic was from initial fitting and wiring. I also use a standalone fan wiring kit. I've had great success with them for years. Summit sells them as well as other places. So now with the new fan installed i never see over 193 coolant temp.

I was finally able to set up a date with my friend to get the car on the lift. Boy when i tell you it felt like 110 in the shop that saturday😰. I stopped taking pics after awhile cause i felt like heat stroke was coming hahaha. I had another friend give me a old school apexi worldsport muffler. It actually sounds great but since getting a little older not the biggest fan of the slight drone so i'll be ordering resonator to help with that. Other then that i think it's perfect. Last two pics are of my co pilot and 2nd a few days later. Getting closer

Looks great. Makes me sad to see someone make much more progress on their Galant in a few months than I have on mine in a few years, but that's how it goes. I'll catch up :thumb:
Thanks man i just really wanted to enjoy the car this summer since last summer i wasn't able too. Good luck on your build you should do a build thread for it.

So the car had a cracked windshield which i wanted to address and was missing a piece of the window molding as well. I spoke to a few companies about replacement but just had conflicting schedules and some never even replied back. After some searching i found a local company that would do it for me and worked with me to have it done. I dropped the car off friday night and picked up saturday afternoon and it came out amazing. The new molding fit the car much better in my eyes. Now after having such nice glass i really wanted my windshield washer nozzles to work again but if you looked at the above engine bay pic i removed the old reservoir. So after spending some time searching i found a new tank and pump with the dimensions i was looking for. I fabbed up a bracket to put it were the old abs system used to be ran new silicone hose and wired it up to the harness and viola i'm back in business it came just how i hoped for and isn't a eye sore like the old one was. I should start taking vids to show certain things but it sprays much harder than the original even with the old oem nozzles. I'll be upgrading the nozzles to give it a newer car spray pattern but for now i'm content.

So now that i've been able to drive the galant more. I always felt like the motor had excessive play. It did have stock mounts so i was figuring the bushings are probably just torn. Upon closer inspection i noticed the rear motor mount bracket bolts weren't fully tight. I tried to tighten them but it looked wrong so i took it out. After some searching on here my suspicion was right. I had the wrong bracket. I had a 194 bracket and was much longer then the 195 bracket i needed. After figuring that out i hit up john from performance partout and he had one and shipped right out to me to get me back on the road. While i was waiting for the bracket i still had my old poly mounts from my 91 in a box. I took them to work and stripped them and painted them to give them a cleaner look. The bushings were shot on the stock mounts but was hard to see while still being mounted on the subframe. Swapped my poly mounts in and the correct bracket and no more excessive sway.

Looks great!!! The molding around the glass was just something they had in stock that they use? I'm very interested in this. I need my front glass replaced, I have a crack in mine.

I believe so. The guy who did my windshield was into older cars from the get so maybe he had something that not your average shop would have. If you like i could shot him a text to see if it's anything special.

So now next on my agenda was my fueling issues. The tank had crud but was not rotted to shit like car's i've had before for repairs. As stated earlier in the build i did replace a few bits but the fuel still wasn't to my liking. The ethanol really cleaned out my tank but in return i was constantly changing fuel pump socks and fuel filters up front. I knew i was playing russian roulette every time i removed the stock flare nut off of the stock rusty housing LOL. Finally one day i was so annoyed that i was telling a friend i wish this POS line would just break so i could replace everything the way i normally do on builds. Well sure enough i spoke it into realityROFL. After breaking this i was so angry i called it a night and said i would revisit this car in a few days. After cooling down i did what i normally do on my builds new lines for feed and return with welded fittings on the fuel pump housing. This time i switched up and went PTFE lines and wanted to use -6 for both feed and return. Ideally i like a male -6 to 3/8th barb but couldn't find anything that i thought was reasonable. So i made my own.

While waiting for my fuel line to come in i remade my fuel pump holder brackets and had them reprinted. I might make my drawings public so anyone can reprint them it's a pretty easy thing to make. I welded everything up and it was a nice fit. I left everything in the engine bay loose since i'm up in the air about what regulator i want to switch to where i want to mount my filter etc etc..

I'm going to be dumping all my fuel upgrades into one update since i just want to get it out the way and get everyone semi up to date which now were a few weeks off of current status. After better results from switching lines i still wasn't happy. I did some digging and found i was having serious voltage drop from battery up front to the rear. I do work on these cars on the side and i used up all my good wire on customer cars so when it came to my own car i just grabbed whatever i had laying around since i didn't want to wait. Well it bit me in the ass LOL. I was having a 17% drop from battery to relay output. I bit the bullet and bought better wire locally and got it down to livable drop of 3%. So a few weeks went by and i wasn't happy yet either so i dug deeper into this issue. So i removed the factory cap on the stock power feed line and to my surprise it was corroded to shit. I could see why now there was still resistance in the line. I redid the feed and ground now to a proper gauge wire with a external 2 wire bulkhead. I also used a dtp 2 pin connector aka deutsch connector. My low level wire was already broken but my floater was still good so i left the stock connector for the fuel gauge to work. In hindsight i should of just cut up a new hanger on the cnc LOLROFL. Oh well i'm investing into this beat up hanger:shhh:.

Well I figured i would try to update this build on a once a week basis since were pretty close to where i am currently with the car. Unfortunately real time updates normally take weeks so bear with me. Anyway i finally got my valve cover back from the powder coater. I went there and told him that i wanted to match the color of my first eclipse from 2000 as a homage. He showed me a few colors and i found something that looked like a perfect match. A few weeks went by he finally told me it was read i went there and when i seen the cover in person It blew my expectations away. This looks so beautiful in person and in sunlight. Now i need to figure if i just want to buy a simple catch can or fabricate something unique:idontknow:. I also finally got the outlander rotors in and it def filled out the wheel a bit better. Unfortunately when swapping things over i noticed play in my passenger wheel bearing so that will be a upcoming fix as well as swapping both axles since both cv boots are torn:mad:

Well it's been a bit since i updated. While waiting on parts i started looking into why it was so annoying to get into reverse. After looking at the cables and re adjusting them it felt better but while looking at the shifter i realized there was a bunch of play and one of the bushings in the shifter was completely gone LOL. i reached out to @DSSA to acquire about new bushings since this is his shifter. He told me this was the first one he made back in 96 and was thrown together with used bushings to see if it would even work. While taking the center console off i seen the home of the prior tenant LOL. There was more than pictured i'm surprised they didn't chew the dash harness. All new bushings and hardware came in a few days later and even got a wave spring which many people don't even know about nor have i ever seen one in any of the cars i've owned or worked on ROFL. Shifter feels amazing now. My friend did give me a spare base which i will be stripping and powder coating. I will also be making a tighter tolerance bushing for the rear arm and cables. All in all i'm happy. I was also able to get a new shift boot since the first one got lost in the mail LOL. It's the little things sometimes. My wheel bearings came in but just haven't had motivation to take everything apart. My friend will be giving me his spare set of 5 lug spindles which i'll probably throw on in the meantime when i swap axles. I'll take mine off get them stripped and coat them in por 15 to keep them looking good for the awhile. Last pic is a car meet they hold at a old mansion that got turned into a hotel. It was mostly exotics with a bunch of bmws and these new supras. But the car was well received and some of the older crowd my age and older where like holy%*** is that a VR4 LOL

Well haven't updated this in awhile since a bunch has been going on personally but. My friend picked up a evo 4 so it's cool being able to roll out with him again. I finally was able to actually tune my own car and it's a healthy 30lbs LOL. I wanted to drive it to the shootout but i couldn't get the suspension and new tires in time so we took my friends subaru which someone else took a pic of. While at the shootout got to talking to Robert from fp for a bit and me and my friend both ended up picking up new reds with new manifolds LOL. Finally got to meet a few people from the forum. I'm in the middle of moving so haven't done much to the car besides driving it every other week to go on cruises with friends. Once i'm done with moving i'll get back to it.

Small update. Picked up some continental extreme contacts a while back and got them mounted. I wasn't sure how a 235 tire would fit the car but it ended up looking amazing. I personally like a meaty tire. My rack took a shit so i'll be installing a new 1g rack at the beginning of spring as well as going to electric power steering to clean up the bay. The 2100 i had in it gave up a few months back so i've been babying the car and trying to not get it under heavy load until i have some free time to swap over that's going to hold the power i'm shooting for. I finished the cad for the billet hanger just need to sort out a few things then get that cut. Hopefully next time i post i'll actually get something meaningful done LOL. It's unfortunate the older we get the less time we have to spend with our toys oh well that's life.

That shifter still has to feel like crap---I didn't notice, or didn't see pictures of this until now---you're missing a washer in there between the wave spring and the inner shifter bushing, which will leave a lot of slop. Reach out to me via email, and I'll send you one for the cost of shipping.

Additionally, I doubt that has the metal shifter stop that I've started using on them several years back (send a picture of the other side and I can confirm). It's a good thing to have, not only for "feel" but to prevent over-extending throws. It's a critical aspect which is why Fidanza (after copying the setup, but leaving the stops off to lessen production costs) failed in their attempt.

I so love seeing this car being brought back to life being my intro to Mitsubishi back in the day---it's looking great! Thank you!
