Are there any shops in SE Michigan that have DSM experience? I need to get the timing belt done on a 1g, and I don't have the expertise or the time to do it myself. If I had just one of those, I'd do it myself but I want to get it done quick rather than have the car sit for another long period (been sitting for 4+ years now, but it started and ran fine).

I’m not real familiar with that corner, but you have Buschur 2ish hours away in Wakeman Ohio if all else fails. Might seem like a bit of a hike for a timing belt service but can’t go wrong if they do it. Depending on where you’re at in SE Michigan it’s possible Wakeman is even closer than that. To put it into perspective I’m 20 minutes straight East of Wakeman and I can be in downtown Detroit in under 2.5 hours.

I suppose that's not a bad idea; I just socketed a spare ECU, so now I can get ECMlink installed and then I could have them tune it at the same time. In 2011, I trailered the car down to Shep for the timing belt which is a whole lot further. I think she knew David personally, the car has some of his earliest exhaust parts on it.

I noticed it had some older Buschur parts on it. Unfortunately, David won’t touch ECMlink, actually despises it (why I’ll never know). However I know there are a few pretty good tuners who will work with ECMlink up your way. Don’t know how far you are from Pawpaw Michigan if that’s in your neck of the woods at all or if he’s still working with cars at all or strictly moved on to the side by side atv stuff but I’ve heard nothing but good things about John Whalen’s work, I know he was a LinkECU dealer and tuner but believe he worked with ECMlink as well, worth looking into. @coltboostin is the go to ECMlink guy here in Buschur country and does great work, if you’re in the area having Buschur work on it it’s possible he might be available when you come get it. We have a few dyno’s in the area he has access to but if a dyno isn’t available he could get it really good on the street especially being your set up and I’d highly recommend his work.
