Hi all,
I’m having low voltage problems in my 1993 Laser RS Turbo.

Rock auto shows that ACDELCO 3341914 alternator is a replacement at 90 amps, and i figure while I’m down there I’ll also replace the belt and run a new or secondary 4 gauge wire directly to the battery. Will this work, or is this alternator incompatible?
Any advice on ensuring the engine mount is well grounded as well (to guarantee a great ground to the alternator and battery).

I know a lot of alternators have been suggested but I sourcing them in Canada is looking difficult and I don’t want to go the route of any mount modifications or using the AC compressor bracket.

Thank you.

Alternator for 91 gvr4 works also and is 90amp. Make sure to replace the fusible link.
thanks! Looks like this alternator is also specified for the 91 galant, though it does specify automatic in the description. Perhaps I’ll take a chance on it and see how it fits.

Looks to me like the alternator should be a good one.
The Rock Auto listing of it is funny. They show it for Laser 1990 -1994. Talon 1990-1991. And Eclipse not at all. I would try it out. In fact I might try it out - actually I mean buy one as a spare for my 1990 Talon.
But I haven't had any alternator trouble yet since making a heat shield to shield it from the exhaust parts that are nearby. Prior to that my alternators weren't lasting very long. There might be some kind of stock heat shield for that if your car is complete, I don't know, but my car didn't have one at the time I bought it.
The other thing to watch out for is that if your high pressure power steering hose leaks right at the fitting where it attaches to the top of the power steering pump, that is bad. The PS fluid will most likely drip right down onto and into the alternator and it will make a nice little alternator fire with black smoke and stuff. That fluid fitting is sealed with o-rings. So if you ever take that fitting off the PS pump for some reason, you should replace the o-rings with the correct metric size, and watch it like a hawk for a long time afterwards. After all that, I still have my alternator in the stock original position, rather than relocated to the back like some do.

Thanks for the replies, I’ll give it a shot. Doesn’t appear that I have any PS fluid leaking, but I also don’t have a heat shield so I may need to figure something out there. It may take me a few weeks to get around to, but I’ll post back if it fits or not when I get to it. Thank you again!
