I don't know exactly what category to put this in and it seems simple enough of a question that newbies would probably ask it. Sorry if this post needs to be moved.

I bought a 1997 Eagle Talon TSI AWD w/ what I am told is a Baer Big Brake Kit. I just got off the phone with Baer who tells me the calipers (and subsequently the pads) are off a 1988-1996 Corvette. However, they tell me the rotors are a one-off, 2-3 weeks out on order, costing $225.00 each.

Can someone tell me if this is my only option or will a rotor from another vehicle work? I run a parts store, so I would like to not spend $450.00 plus on two rotors and put that money towards eventually upgrading to Evo Brembos.

I would appreciate any and all help.

an evo brembo swap will cost you more over all,

450 for a set of rotors that are custom and likely 2 piece are a very good price!

i would suggest since you got the calipers and it all setup is to just replace the rotors and they will last a while for you im sure,

Unfortunately, they are one piece. 2-3 weeks away too.

hmmm well i guess its still cheaper i guess. yes for a 1 piece rotor its costly for sure. if you can swap rotors every few years its not going to be a problem, a good set of rotors these days are about 200 so your paying for the custom part of it

If your Baer big brake kit was anything like mine or any other Baer big brake kit that used the PBR corvette sliding caliper that you referenced, then yes I would say that the rotor was indeed a Baer one-off simply because the rotor would fit onto your hub without the need for a hubcentric ring adapter. My bet is that you can just buy this hubcentric ring adapter and use a Ford Mustang Cobra rotor as seen on RTM's website (or get the cobra rotor from your parts store), as I did when I cracked my old Baer rotor from my kit. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the hub ring. This would be a super cheap alternative for you.

I'm going to give this a try. Thanks.

The Cobra/Corvette rotors have a different offset than what the Baer kit comes with. I have the Baer kit on my 97 Talon as well and seen it first hand. To keep everything the same you must buy from Baer directly.

Looking through your pics made me wonder something. Did all the Baer kits come with Baer stamped calipers? Thanks.
