Hey everyone,

So I’m a new member to the DSM tuner page and just need some guidance on a few things. Currently I own a 91 GS with 69k original miles. I’m the second owner and I want to be moderate about what I do to my car. I’m experiencing a bad speed wobble when I brake above 55mph any ideas of what this could be? Also, I have a issue with high idle (around 2200) when it’s in park. Last question for the night… I want to upgrade to a bbk any suggestions on what to use? Thank you all!

Welcome to the site.

Please peruse this link as we need a little more info.
The car you have is also a 92 or newer. It may have been built in 91 but the front end fixed headlights are 92 to 94 model year.

BBK what?

Welcome to the site! So, if am I reading this right, when you break over 55 mph you get a shake in the steering wheel? That would point to warped front rotors.
Yes at times it can be pretty bad. Sorry I’m not giving a whole lot of info.

Welcome!

Another source of front end shakes can be from the lower control arms rear bushing being rotted out.

As others have pointed out your car is a 92 or later since it doesn't have pop up headlights that were on the earlier cars.

Is it a 2L NA or a 1.8L NA?

The idle issue can have several causes but the common is a bad Idle Speed Control stepper motor and/or blown drivers for it in the ECU. Other potential cause are a tight throttle cable, broken Idle Position Switch, and general ECU damage from capacitors leaking.

The best bang of the $ on the GS for brakes might be putting the dual piston calipers and larger rotors from the 93+ AWD cars and some braided brake hoses. With good pads you be able to exceed the grip of the best tires and have great pedal feel.

If you looking for bling, paint those calipers red....

It is a DOHC 2.0 N/A.

After doing more digging it is a mid year 91 GS. As for the braking, I’m going for both. I’d like a little more confidence in braking, but too it is a little bit about the “bling bling” of it too.

I have a hard time doing any work to it because of the apartments I live in. Trying to find a good shop to send her off to is hard.

The factory ran from the middle on one year to the middle of the next, so 91's were build from the middle of 90 to the middle of 91 and then they started building 92's. So you have an early 92 model year car.

You can tell the 90's and 91's by their pop up headlights. I bought my car in Aug of 91 when there were both 91's and 92's on the dealers lot. I disliked the headlights on the 92's so I bought a 91.

I can't help with the apartment situation, it's like that on many properties.

This is the rot I was speaking of. If your car spent time in a place where they salt the roads you should check them.

Welcome. You're in Denver, eh? I'm just about 30 minutes north of you in Brighton. We will have to get together and cruise sometime! The forums have been great and I've met several DSMers that are local.
