Found the culprit of why the shifter was jammed. As fourth started to come apart, a tooth got wedged behind the shift rails. Actually pretty lucky, cause had the gear come all the way apart, it would’ve put a hole in the case. So I’ll take the silver lining. Got some parts lined up. The internals that broke were all 90 parts. So I got some buddies with newer gear train stuff that they’re sending me and I’m trading a my 90 center diff with a buddy that had newer center diff. Oh damn! I'd say that was lucky too. That looks like it would be easy to miss.

Alright. Been a minute for an update. Just been so busy with things. Got parts from some friends and got the trans reassembled with a Magnus billet 3/4 shift fork. Working on some ideas for the off season already to keep the trans alive. But, for now, got the trans reassembled, and back in the car. Also drilled and tapped the case for a -6 trans breather as recommended by Tim. Also filled the trans with 75-140 Redline, also as recommended by Tim. Got some small things to finish off before loading the car up on thursday to head to Palmer. Also got the new intercooler piping welded and installed. Still have to understand why the car explodes any silicon couplers before the intercooler but nothing from the intercooler to the throttle body. Somethings not right there. Will hopefully get that figured out. But, for now, just gonna focus on this next event and getting ready for Gridlife and GTA in July and August.

Palmer update.
Got the car fired up the Tuesday before the event. Transmission made a very loud buddy noise that went away when I stepped on the clutch. Decided to take the trans apart in the car. Discovered a bad bearing on the intermediate shaft. Figured it’s in an oil bath, it’ll be ok for the weekend, and put the trans back together. Got the trans fully back together and the car on the trailer the same day.
Got to Palmer Friday evening. Unloaded, and grabbed dinner with some friends. Saturday morning, got to the track and started getting everything ready for the day. Our first session was at 10am, so I had some time to get the car ready as far as finishing touches.
Went out for first session, first time laying into it, noticed the boost gauge was getting buried. Lost the tune. Not sure how that happens. Thats the second time thats happened to me with DSMLink. No biggie. Bypassed the boost controller and went out on 15psi for second session while Ken at Black Sheep Tuning got the tune over to me. Got the tune in the car for 3rd session in the afternoon, and the car was much happier. Matched my PB from last year. But, in the end just didn’t have anything for the Vettes on Hoosiers and more HP. Came home 3rd out of 3 about 2 seconds off the pace of the Vettes.
Sunday morning it rained. I didn’t go out in the rain since all my electronics are exposed for the most part. But I did go out in the damp. Which was a lot of fun. Went faster than the Vettes. The track dried out and went back out for final session of the weekend. Car was definitely down on power. Looked at the boost gauge and the car was making about 12-13 psi. About half what it’s set to make. So that killed the final session.
So, at the end of the day, came home 3rd in class again, and 4th fastest time of the weekend overall. Not bad considering the car was apart the day I loaded it onto the trailer. Had a lot of issues with tire rub. These 275/40-18 A052’s are just too big. Will have to go to a smaller tire. A 275-35 should be a better fit. Trying to figure out my next event. Already registered for GridLife at NJMP in July. Still trying to find funding for GTA and for tires. So we’ll see. But until then, got a small list of things to do. Move my seat over. I think I discovered my intercooler coupler issue and have addressed it. Hoping to get the car really squared away for

Getting ready for my next events in July. First up is EMRA at NJMP July 9-10. Then we’re back at NJMP July 23rd-24th with Gridlife. Not sure I’m going to make GTA back at NJMP a couple weeks later. It’s just a lot of time away from home. So last weekend I cleaned the garage. Got the trailer back inside. Started organizing the shop. Also installed one aero latch and the buttons for the bumper quick release. Still have some work on that to do. Then it’s on to moving the seat over and down

Been working on moving my seat over so my heads not bumping against the rollcage. Moved the seat over as far as I could. Definitely better as far as head clearance is concerned. 2 weeks till NJMP with EMRA. Which means one month till NJMP with Gridlife.

Hmmmm that setup for the rails looks awefully familiar LOL

Is that how you did yours? I used to have the brackets running parallel to the centerline of the car, but after putting the cage in, it was way to far drivers left and was bumping my head on the rollcage. The only thing I’m not super happy with is it now sits a little higher than it did. Have to figure a way to get it lower, which probably means modding the holes in the side support. And I’m not sure I want to do that.

Pretty much the same as me. I chopped into the center tunnel. Got it as low as i could and i got about 10mm gap under the bar. When i redo my cage its going to have the bars run higher more plus my seat rail mounting will then be flush to the floor and seam welded along it but i have to make a template for the fitment to be spot on for that to mate both sides also.

This will retain the strength and also allow side to side movement of the seat brackets for fine tuning setup.

Its a strong way this is and thats why it works so damn well.

Excellent. The two hardest things were locating the eyelet for the right side lap belt and squeezing the exhaust back in the space. Had to take my 3” oval pipe and stand it up. Definitely going to have to heat wrap it and gold foil or another heat barrier between the new tunnel and exhaust.

I think you must of gone more then me as my 3" still fits lovely.

Yes the eyelet is a bugger on the inner side, i slide mine up till it touches the bracket. Nothing else I can do with the legal limits of the lap belt angles.

NJMP prep is almost complete. Finished the exhaust yesterday and picked up my new tires. Went with the Nangkang CRS sized 265/35-18. Excited to try them out. A couple more little odds and ends to finish up before we go racing next week. Looking to go faster than I did last year. Crossing my fingers we do. Also, the size difference from the A052’s I had been running is pretty huge, so I don’t see any rubbing issues like I had with the yokos.

How are you allowed to have the tips finish under the car? Boy we would get shouted at for that for safety and fumes inside the car etc

I know rules in the US and UK are widely different. They would not allow this for sure. They would be too worried about rising fumes into the cabin and such.

If you’re sitting on false grid just idling I get it. But at speed, if fumes are getting in the car, there’s a bigger issue. I know that if you have a hood exit or bumper exit, you need to have a ventilation system for your helmet.

yeah see here we are not allowed hood dumps or anything out the hood. if its to come out it has to be behind the front wheel out the side NOT of the driver, road racing and hood dumps or even open gates are banned apart from drag racing here. MSA/FIA are quite strict for safety

Interesting.
