As I've said in my presentation,I sparked a passion for Mitsubishi in childhood. I've seen them win dakar, wrc and make a bunch of cool cars. They were on lots of car movies like thunderbolt and fast and furious and in the most of car games from my childhood.

I've always dreamt of having a cool Mitsubishi like an eclipse, an evo, a 3000gt or a starion, but I am from Europe (Portugal in specific), and a cool Mitsubishi is pretty rare here (and normally expensive).

The story of this car with me is a bit strange. It starts when a facebook marketplace advertisement appears of a 3000gt vr4 for a really cheap price. I thought "well, it's now or never the opportunity to buy a cool mitsubishi", I Put my e36 for sale to buy the 3000gt and in two days the 3000gt was sold. I keep the e36 for sale seeing the market and pops up the eclipse advertisement on sales website in the same value range of my bmw ( Here usually, the eclipses are more expensive then a 4 door e36 6 cylinder).

I contact the guy with no hope but the seller tells me "come show me the car, I may have an interest in a trade". We didn't make the trade, but the owner of this eclipse was kind enough to let me sell my bmw first and then buy the eclipse for the estimated price.

In about two weeks I sold the bmw and I was able to buy the eclipse for exactly the same amount of money.

There are less then 200 2g eclipses in Portugal and i dont know how many of them are the 2Gb version, so here the car is really rare.
I've a lots of Mitsubishi on my favorite car list and the eclipse was one of them, so for me its like a dream come true. I'm really into cars but i never had expirienced a mitsubishi "sports car" without being the 3kgt of a buddie.
It was a real shot in the dark. I didnt know if i would enjoy the expirience of driving an eclipse.

Hello, little update.

I change some parts in the engine:
- Headgasket
- Timing belts
- Water Pump

Then I bought one set of braid wheels 18X8, et35 and paint the cover in red.

I'm looking now for a Mitsubishi outlander "big" brake kit to apply in the eclipse.

I hope you all enjoy.
Best Regards

Because slow progress is better than no progress.
I finally found a cargo cover or deck board for my eclipse. A guy was making a f&f tribute car and sold me a bunch of stuff for 80€ (Rear seats and belts, original spare wheel, cargo cover, bolt of spare wheel, lower trunk cover and original lifter).

The car came with hertz sound system and the previous owner removed the original cargo cover to put the sound system.

I take off the sound system in order to put it back to stock.

I've wanted an Eclipse since around 97-98' when 2 buddies in High School had them. I like the Gen-1s but LOVE the Gen-2 body style. Sorry, but not a fan of the Gen3-4s at all. I test drove a white 96' GS-T and couldnt believe how quick that little car was for 240hp. Anyways, fast forward 25 years and now I got the chance to own one. Its a 99' GS, but the plan is to rebuild the car, paint job and aftermarket turbo. Looking forward to it!!

Hi,

Nice to ear that, best later than never.
You should create a Build thread to show us your machine!

Hey, good progress on your EUDSM! Makes me miss my old red GS I had in 2013.

I saw you are looking to do the outlander brake upgrade. May I suggest the 3000GT 4 piston brake caliper upgrade? I still have 1 pair of custom adapter brackets I made for this conversion. You bolt them up to your knuckles and then attach the 3000GT brake caliper to them, while using the 313mm brake rotors. I am also in EU so can ship the brackets to you easily :)

Good luck with the next upgrades!
