Searching for a roll pin question on dsmtuners proved to be challenging. Jacks trans is not available on Friday so I turn to the group.
I have a Jacks trans unit with the 2nd roll pin on 3/4. This is not the roll pin inside a roll pin. It's the 2nd drilled unit on the 3/4 shift fork. The pin points straight at the hub and sleeve. How do you remove this thing since it has no relief behind it?
I'm afraid you guys are going to tell me to remove the lockpin at the shift selector and remove it all that way.
I've done dozens of dsm trans but this is the first time I've had a unit apart with this particular modification.
 
Are you just trying to take the trans apart, or replace the fork?

You should be able to get the trans apart without taking it off. I do that all the time.

Replacing the fork I think you will have to cut it off, and then the rail might be worthless. Idk if there is enough meat left to do the normal type second roll pin.

I'm not following. You can't get the shift rails to rotate without removing the pins. I'm trying to disassemble this unit. And you can't remove the shafts if the shift rails aren't out of the way of the shift selector.
 
Yes you can! It sucks, but it's doable. Gotta get 1/2 out of the way first. turn 5/r so it points off to the side and it'll come out. You'll cuss at it and scratch your head for a while, but it'll go.
 
well nevermind. I got it. You were right the intermediate can come out with some cussing. Once that was out of the way I beat the snot out of the roll pin, bent it and got it all out. Amazingly the fork looks good and maybe besides some small nicks this stuff is salvageable.

I would still like to know how you did it without all the roll pins out. What I did was hit the pin enough to where it pushed a gap between the fork and the sleeve. Once some of the pin was out I just beat on it to bend it so I could hit it some more and drive it out. Destroyed the pin but who cares.
 
Odd I've never had a problem with those. But the 2nd pin. I get why it's there but dang that sucked.
