Are there any other bolt on options besides the CTS-V upgrade that Strictly provides? I am in the market for a BBK, this car (6/4 about 375 HP, FEAL Coilovers) will be DD, Street and Auto-X(once per month) and I would like to improve the potential braking capabilities.. All of the the most recent threads bring me back to the CTS-V solution but I am a little leery because of the following:

Cons:
1. Hides the hub's centric ring that usually pokes from the rotor hub centering hole forcing all wheels to be bolt centric which isn't ideal. (I agree here, anyway to overcome this issue?)
2. Reduces the threads of the oem wheel studs contact with the nuts. I'd highly recommend getting longer studs. (longer studs seem to be necessary with this kit ?)
3. Pushes the wheel by 5mm and the caliper's position as well. This is a big caliper and needs as much space as possible. Wheel width and offset are very important, if you go with 17x9 35mm offset wheels which are as large as you can get without poking out of the fenders you end up with a 30mm offset wheel (due to the 5mm push outward) effect which produces some wheel poke. If you get a 40mm offset wheel to compensate chances are depending on the spoke design that the bbk might not fit. (I run 17x8 currently, not sure what the offset is)
4. I have also read that the Cobra brakes that come with this kit are less than ideal and should be a little larger?

As always, thanks for any and all insight..

Bear Claw track kit (older Cobra / Zr-1 calipers). Stoptech (I have to run spacers to fit these calipers). If on a tighter budget, 3000GT calipers or Outlander brackets / calipers. Those are all off the top of my head, there are more options.

Remember alot of these kits esp the cobbled together kits ie 3000gt etc limit your wheel choices as they move the caliper laterally as well as vertically due to the size of the caliper. I still say the 3000gt kit is the best bang for the buck.

Outlander brakes! I was blown away when I upgraded mine, huge difference.

I agree that i love my outlander brakes, but I agree with @bastarddsm that they may not be appropriate for auto-x. I have centric calipers, yellow-stuff pads and EBC slotted/drilled rotors, and I've gotten mine to fade a couple times, once at the end of the drag strip, and once just in the mountains on some "spirited driving".

For auto-x, I think the wilwood kit or cts-v kit would work well (if you can fit them), or maybe the ssbc kit?

I'm partial to the front 3000GT VR4 Quad piston upgrade myself... they are a HUGE improvement over my factory dual piston caliper setup! I picked up the brackets that allowed me to use them a while back from another member (Garfield, IIRC). They do require larger wheels though (the Evo 8 Enkies fit perfectly). But they are also made out of aluminum, so there's no rust issues to deal with. They even weigh a lot less than the factory dual piston calipers do, but I think that the weight savings there is offset by the larger rotors

I have the cts brembos with evo 8 wheels. The wheels barely fit. I had to really spend a ton of time figuring out wheel weight placement to avoid contact with the caliper. However, these brakes are awesome but you have to upgrade the master to the 3g for it to work properly. My car goes to watkins glen and I can't imagine it without these brakes.

Willwoods. I have the outlander and use the later thicker rotors. I can't imagine it's not enough brskes for a casual axer.

We've been running the Outlander rotors/calipers on our Lemons DSM but want to upgrade. The CTS-V / Mustang combo *could* work as a alternative to a wilwood set-up but we're running 17" rims and we'd need to get 6 - 8 new evo 8 wheels to accomdate the CTS-V calipers, so now we're back to exploring the wilwood calipers.

@bastarddsm - do you know which Wilwood 4 piston caliper and rotor combo that works with the 1G?

I hope I can chip in here with a solution.

I did a kit for the 2G and then adapted the same bracket for the 1G. so its based on a 4 piston and can even be done on a 6 piston if it allows, the rotor is using an off the shelf evo rotor so make life alot easier for all. no spacers, no rings to make or loose. just a basic easy upgrade bolt on kit with plenty of rotor and pad options + so damn many custom options also

here is the link if anyone wishes to take a look https://www.dsmtuners.com/marketpla...lar-evo-brembo-and-ctsv-alternative-open.448/

I'm currently using a wilwood kit from an SRT4 that I modified. Redrilled the hats, and made new caliper brackets. There is a wilwood kit for 2g dsm, but it'll go right on a 1g. Idk why they don't list them for both.

I'm sure you can do it pretty cheap if you scrounge. My brother got some new afco calipers that were very inexpensive, and look very nice. You will have to scour parts catalogs and make brackets to keep the cost down. After selling my outlander stuff, I have like $50 and some time in my wilwoods.

Be warned though I think the outlander is a better brake setup. I did wilwoods for the weight. I think you are going to struggle to get better brakes than outlanders without spending a fortune. Especially if you need to keep your current rims.

NO way in hell I'd run that ctsv abortion on a race car.
