These have got to be the best kept secret in the industry. The physical dimensions of these are identical to the Walbro 190 & 255 in-tank pumps. They just pound out 350lph of fuel instead. Yes, we realize some of the new "big head" pumps are over 500lph, but that volume comes at a cost: because of their physical dimensions, they aren't plug & play in a DSM. Installation involves some ingenuity and inconvenience.

These have been available for at least 2 years now and almost no one advertises them for sale. We stumbled onto them ourselves almost by accident about a year ago.

We suspect no one has been pushing these pumps because they've chosen to push the newer "big heads" instead. As far as we're concerned, it needn't be either/or, why not "push" both? We certainly will.

Here they are in our webstore:

All my experience comes from a 1G so it was a bit of a letdown that I could not use the entire hanger support, but it wasn't going into the tank otherwise. I was not sure if I could trim the only barb becase it also has what looks to be a check valve inside it.
A piece of the hose cut in half made a good insulator and a clamp did the rest. All submersible rated hose, for obvious reasons. Need to see if I can get a low profile 90 as a regular doesn't clear the plate under the seat by any means.
Also drilled the siphon hole but I would rather start small so I went 3/32. If I need to go 7/16 I will.

Have you seen these?
I can't put the cover on mine when I run a 10an bulkhead fitting (I need a low profile one like you), but I can with a 6 or 8an but the ID of those are only 5/16 when measured. I tried all 3 on my 1g and the 10an fitting flowed better when comparing the other 2 fittings flow. All worked fine but I wanted a true 3/8 ID all the way from my pump to the rail.
I have a thread on my bulkhead fitting install, but it is on a 1g.

Well I see them now.. but I just got a regular non-swivel 90. That one fit under the cover with a bit of rubber trimming. Will keep this in mind about ID in the future but this should do for my goals. The 2g AWD tank is so shallow, this pump is definitely a tight fit.

I hadn't found them either Curt, until you mentioned needing a low profile one, so I went on a search for them and glad I found a manufacturer. :thumb:

Yes, it's a GSL396. Apparently it's 350lph also. It's fairly new and not many places carry them, but they're available.
Are the GSL series e85 comparable? I’m looking for a pump to run in-line with a 525 but struggling to find one similar to the 525 to run in series.

So I have mine rewired and feel the need to caution that this pump is LOUD. It sounds about 2x, if not more, louder than the 255 I used to have on my 1g FWD.
I will have more data once the car is running in the next day or three but on priming, damn, it is one loud pump.

I am also curious how many amps it draws so I will check that too.

So, running, you can barely hear it in the car but outside on the passenger side it definitely gives everybody a clear impression you're not running any ordinary fuel pump.. but I think I need to drill the siphon out a tad more. It looks and feels to me I'm draining more of the passenger side of the tank than the other. I originally did 3/32 but perhaps I should step up to 1/8.

They are not according to the page for the GSL396 on walbrofuelpumps.com.
There it says: "Gasoline Only, No E-85 (Just like the GSL392 and other inline pumps in the GSL family.)"

https://walbrofuelpumps.com/walbro-gsl396-inline-fuel-350lph-pump.html

walbrofuelpumps.com is just a reseller, they are not the actual Walbro company. So they could have it wrong, but it's probably the right info.
