This is what I installed in my 2gb, and I can see absolutely everything. The factory headlight optics are actually pretty good, but you won't really improve it unless you replace it with a projector of some kind. This kit would be easier to install, is slightly cheaper, and is nearly as good.

You can install 9005 high beam bulbs into the 9006 low beam slot with some trimming. High quality halogen bulbs are as good as you can get in the factory housing. If you're not able to spend the money or aren't willing to put in the work to retrofit your headlights, my recommendation is a quality 9005. It really is the best you can get in the factory housings. The factory optics are pretty good when used with halogen bulbs. You can install PnP HID kits and LEDs which are brighter, but the housing is not designed for the way that HIDs produce light from a single point and the way LEDs produce light from several individual points. They stop distributing light where it needs to go. Output is overall brighter, but it is actually harder to see because the light distribution is uneven. At first glance it looks better because you get a blob generally in the middle that is brighter than everything else, but everything else is dimmer.

The factory headlight color is 4000-4300k. Going higher than this would be a downgrade in terms of visibility, as the human eye prefers warmer color temperatures in dark environments to be able to comprehend shapes. 5000k is generally accepted as the highest that you can go for a functional, bright bulb. The 6500k bulbs you linked would be a poor color selection if your goal is visibility. And I don't for a second believe their 4000lm claim for a fanless 9006 LED. That much heat would kill a diode in seconds.

The LEDs that you've linked are interesting in that they try to emulate the 9006 filament pattern which is definitely a good thing. But you're still held back by the factory housings and that price is more than halfway to a low end projector kit, which would be a massive upgrade over even those bulbs.

Edit to show what my projector retrofit looks like.

Going thru the same process on my 99 Spyder GST. For me it seems like the replacement halogens is the right option. So to complete the process, does one replace both the low and high beam lights at the same time? 9005 and 9006? And does one mess with the red lights as well? Does replacing that bulb have an impact on the look? no right? And in addition to new bulbs, I assume one polishes the outside surface (per kits like 3m highlight refurbishment ultra)? Is there something else that people do?

I really like your retrofits but I am not sure I have the time for that right now. If the new bulbs don't satisfy me, I will go that route.

I converted my 1gb car and I love it. Converted my 2004 Silverado also and both are much brighter and I can see so much more with them over stock bulbs. HERE is what I had to do. We convert a lot of cars to LEDs and haven't had any complaints, only compliments, on the different vehicles that we have done.
I polished my lenses with Mirror Glaze from McGuires after a sanding with 2000 wet/dry and they polished up very nice, as you can see HERE.

You can do 9005 high beam and 9006 low beam, or 9005 in both and trim the low beam according to the instructions above. You might as well do both at the same time.

If you mean the amber DRL/turn signal, the housing's lens is amber in both 2ga and 2gb so the bulb itself is not visible. There wouldn't be a discernable difference in either performance or aesthetics by going with an amber or a clear bulb. You could go LED here if you wanted (and enjoy hyperflash), but there's no real reason to do anything other than the cheapest 1157 you can get.

If your housing is hazy, cleaning that up will make more of a difference than changing bulbs. I don't have any personal experience with the kits but it's not difficult to do a good job. Whatever supplies you end up using, you MUST put some kind of UV protectant on the plastic afterward. Some kits come with a spray, you can source your own clearcoat paint, or a sheet of UV protectant vinyl will do the trick.

They're a lot of work and they're expensive. They're not for everyone and I get that, but boy are they worth it.
