Hi everyone,

So I have swapped a 98 GST a/t to a manual transmission with a 96 GS m/t as donor car.
For some weird reason it looks like the driveshafts of the GST are to big to fit in the manual transmission (kf5m312zvzt).

Does someone know why this is a thing?

You will probably have to use the inner cups from the 96' GS and the outer from the GST.

Because they are. GST and GS Spyder do not use the same trans.

Completely forgot to mention they are both 4g63. Live in Europe

F5m31 uses 25 spline axles, and the GST trans uses 27 spline axles. You need to switch axles.

Also easy to identify by the color of the axle seals. Black axle seals = 25 spline, brown axle seals = 27 spline.

So I got it fixed, just used the GS axles. Tried not too cause both boots were ripped but I fixed it. Just wanna thank everyone and point one thing out, I searched the forum and found this.

So this must be incorrect?

And now I'm here might as well ask. What is the max torque that the GS axles will take before snapping?

Depends on their condition. It's essentially a 1G FWD turbo axle (25 spline inner), don't know if the bar diameters are different at all. If you wheel hop, you will break them sooner or later. If you are making like 400whp or higher, well they will probably break sooner or later.

Ohh great, I'm just gonna run 250 bhp so no stress this summer hopefully 🤞.
Thanks a lot for all the help.

The post in the screenshot is still correct. In that thread, the OP had a GST car with the proper F5M33 transmission that went out. He replaced it with the Euro GS (F5M31) transmission. In the original post, he states that there is measurable difference between the GST and Euro GS axles. His question wasn't about compatibility at the transmission - it was about compatibility everywhere else. The post in the screenshot is simply stating that the Euro GS axles would work in the GST car when using a Euro GS transmission.

Ohh oke. Than i prob read it wrong. Still thanks to everyone 🙃
