the hatch on my car has a very large gap and i hate how it looks ive tried loosening the bolts and moving it like you would aligning a hood but it only improved slightly also it seems like its at an agle the drivers side you can fit your fingers under and the passenger side you cant

did you loosen all 4 bolts at the same time and try to move it? they need to be turned out a few turns before it will loosen.
and have you checked vehicle history to see if it has any accidents?
 
if loosening the 4 hatch bolts didn't work. try also removing the hatch struts at the same time. if they are bent or the brackets are bent it can cause issues
