Hi guys I was just wondering if I have something rare. It’s a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS (1 owner other then me) and it has a sunroof.🤔 Sombody has told me it was somthing you could pick from factory but I’ve looked and looked and I’m pretty sure that’s only from the GS. I even hit the guy up after I noticed he said he bought it that way from dealership.

if anybody has an info I’d appreciate it

Check the vin. If it's a power sliding roof it's likely oem. 2g did not come with pop-ups. Maybe you have a gs. Vin will tell you.

I think the main thing that separates the GS from RS are the split back seat and rear disc brakes. Everything else could be ordered as an option for the RS model. I believe @Salty-Seagull made a thread about the differences
Yup!

The RS also wasn't equipped with fog lights, side skirts, or a center console arm rest. They had manual mirrors, fixed intermittent wipers, sun visors with unlit mirrors, and vinyl backed front seats too. I've been finding other more subtle differences as I dig into my project too, I'd like to circle back and expand that article at some point...

Here is a list of differences between the RS and GS.

@BLACK'98DSM is correct, sunroofs were a factory option. I wouldn't say its rare... I feel like rare would be a 97+ GS without a sunroof from the factory. I've never seen one. 🤷‍♂️ 😀

Actually the RS OZ came with side skirts :thumb: my neighbor has had one for a while and won't sell it to me :(
Wasn't that a 1999 GS? The brochure called it a "sports value package," but I've seen most folks call it "10th anniversary edition" or "OZ."

I really like those. They had one at a local junk yard last year, and if it had been in restorable condition I would have bought it. Hopefully he will change his mind at some point and sell it to you. 👍 😄

Does that not apply to the GS Spyder? I was picking over one of those in a junkyard yesterday and it had manual mirrors and fixed intermittent wipers.

Yeah the GS Spyder was sort of in-between the RS and GS as far as trim goes, but was a little different. It had a 4G64 engine instead of the 420A. It had side skirts (air dam) and fog lights like a GS coupe, but it had rear drum brakes, fixed intermittent wipers, no rear sway bar and manual mirrors like an RS coupe. They also had 14" wheels standard, like the RS.
