I wanted to start this general thread so all of us can show the carnage that we have incurred, be it new or old. Mitsubishi or any brand, if it is destroyed, show your pictures here!
I can definitely start.
This was the first DSM carnage picture I had. Timing belt pulley worked its way forward and bent all 16 valves. I had one prior event, in which the inducer nut came off of the 14b on my Red 90 Talon (which is how I got the car, as it became mine when that happened according to my son....)
I have many more but want to see others, so guys and gals, post up your destroyed parts and lets all laugh and say "Oh My"

This was all from the same race weekend. 2013 Shootout. Ahh the memories. But it was fun!

First qualifying pass I made a cleanish bottom 9 on wastegate spring (30psi ~750whp) at like 155mph with a slow 60', but it was a pass to get on the board.
Second qualify pass I said let's send it! My rear ring and pinion said nope. So did the DSS stage 5 inner axle stubs and twisted the Spicer slip yoke for the 300m shaft tcase (was a fresh yoke with 1 pass on it).
Go back to pits, remove rear diff, sledge hammer the transfer case off the driveshaft, remove driveshaft, pulled and disassembled the rear axles and tossed in the outer cups to hold the hubs together, went back out for 1st eliminations now in FWD mode (spool center diff).
1st eliminations I had a slower car to go against, did my first FWD burnout, was fun. Ran something like a 10.80 something at 143? doing a burnout through 1st, 2nd and 3rd LOL.
2nd eliminations, do the burnout, line up, spin the tires into 3rd, and bye bye gearset. This was a bummer because I cracked 1st gear teeth, 2nd somehow was salvageable as a backup gear (these were Evo 1 1st/2nd/input shaft rare parts, as you can see, just a synchro trans, had a spool in the center diff, Ralliart clutch type front diff), killed the intermediate shaft, 3rd gear, center diff housing, output pinion shaft and some other stuff.

Even had the transmission pop on video -

Had some laughs, drank some beers with all of my friends and had a wonderful weekend!

The day that I got my current GSX. Original timing belt at 120k miles. The replacement ended up getting delivered the next day.

Just under two years (and about 500 miles) later, a transfer case fluid change.

About a month after that...

Dam Randy, maybe a little too much timing for that piston???? (I have done that too, IDK if I took a picture of it, though I usually do). And my valves looked just like yours, :)

My son's motor that I built for him, 1st pass. He added 4* of extra timing to his table and did this at about the 1000' mark. It was an easy 10 second pass if he had just drove it. It still ran an 11.5 et at 90 some mph.

Found the carnage from my first engine after I swapped it into my second DSM. All rod and main bearings seized as I coasted into a parking lot. The engine was still internally stock at that point and the whole thing was trashed. I actually kept the block, crank, and pistons for 8 years thinking I'd make a coffee table or something to memorialize my first car, but instead they took up valuable storage space until getting sold for scrap.

This was my first set of Ross Racing Pistons. I think they saw a bit of knock. I have another identical set that look exactly like them. Haltech E6X ECU they didn’t have a knock sensor. Now I have ECMLINK and .040 over NPR’S.

One is not like the other for some reason :)
Bent an OEM rod with my original 7 bolt with 120k about 9 years ago.

I had to special order a set of rings from JE for this one. Set my build back by 2 weeks. Turns out you can't buy custom piston rings individually...

Ah yes, one of the few times the car was actually immobilized

And here is the most recent. Most of you don't know about this. It was too painful to talk about at first.

Needs a quarter window 🤮

Damn, that tree got both your DSM and your WRX? Sad day, indeed. :(
Yep. I just got approved for a house in a better area with a bigger garage and NO trees. This won't be happening to me again if I can help it. Luckily I was able to save the DSM.

Dam that is some assortment of DAMAGE. I didn't know about the tree. That SUCKS!!!
Nice addition to the thread tho, WOW.
I had a hatch, just like that but gave it away when I sold my 2g. Sorry man.

Haha it's all good I ended up finding a replacement hatch within days of the incident. I'm still working on the quarter window though.

Here's some gvr4 trans carnage, and some good ol timing belt action from a 2g that someone didnt know timing appearantly.

DAM Brian, did you get all 4 of them....????
I bet that made some noise, then dead silence.

The fourth rod appeared to make it out "unscathed". It's pictured on the left below (7-bolt rod on the left compared to a 6-bolt rod on the right).

The piston for that one did not.

Jesus Christ dude......care to explain??? That is some true CARNAGE for sure!!!!

this happen couple of weeks ago in my 4G63 Chevy LUV. still digging through to see what exactly happen. Its either Trans or converter that started this mess, either way not good...
Trans is a TH350 that has less than 1000 miles

That looks like Chocolate Milkshake. Did it get water contaminated somehow? And the debris on the filter, hmmmm.
I knew it was a TH350 by the cutoff corner of the pan ;)

Jesus Christ dude......care to explain??? That is some true CARNAGE for sure!!!!
I'm not sure I'll ever get the true, full story. I was 800+ miles away when it happened. Dad was driving "80mph in 4th gear" testing it out after changing some bad spark plugs and it let go on him. I think this was a picture he captured of it after he got out:

Well......now that I have the car running, I am finally able to do a bit of driving. Sunday, I went a half mile down the road and turned around, testing fueling and making sure I was holding fuel pressure (all good there). I am on the half mile back at about 50% throttle and out of the blue, OD is gone. No gear. I figure its the endclutch but don't know why it failed so today, I rebuilt a spare endclutch for a quick swap out of the one in question and here is what I found when I pulled the cover off of my NEW DTR transmission. Almost ZERO MILES ON IT.
I am very disappointed to say the least.
Take a look.....:banghead:
I swear, I can't win with these cars so I'm about to give it up. An old man can't just keep R&Ring transmissions. Money, time LOST and an old body are just about done.
Am I pissed.....well yeh
