Hey everybody. A quick search didn't show me quite what I was looking for. But I have a simple question.

I've got 9.0:1 forged pistons and a stock valve training for now. I'm limited to 94 octane which seems to be pretty good out here (one guy making a lil over 500hp on it here) but I feel that's about as far as you can push straight 94 without knocking.
In the future if cash allows I'd like to get a trans fully built with the straight cut synchromesh option available for our cars, in which case I could make as much power as the motor could take.

With the optimal turbo, keeping the 850ccs how much power could I expect to make with a streetwise meth injection setup (IE: not a crapton of spray starting at super low boost) how high can the meth push the knock roof?

Running on 91 here in the Midwest, I could only get 5* of timing on mine. Water/Meth setup allowed me to get to 9*, but that was about as far as I could go without knock.
After I went to E85, I was able to go up to 17-18* and the power increased A LOT.

I don't know who told you 500hp is the limits on pump gas. I run 93 in mine and I make 565whp without any knock. As for the meth I would strongly suggest doing you research on it. It is very inconsistent and one hiccup (low fluid level, pump failure, etc) and you can easily ruin an engine. This is the main reason why I removed it from my car. If you're willing to put money into a dogbox then you should not have a problem putting money into flex fuel and e85.

You can put safety parameters in case you run out of juice or you run into pump failure. Jafro has a video on this. IIRC he cuts power to his ebc in link but yeah you have to be careful with meth injection.

Id assume your injectors would be the limiting factor here for hp before 94+meth is. Depending on base fuel pressure and duty cycle your willing to run. Check what your specific 850cc are good for hp wise or run 850s threw a couple different injector calculators to get a idea they all should be similar. Depending on intercooler and turbo etc. If the air is cool you can potentially run very high boost with very low timing and make alot of power without knock on 94+meth. More then 850s would support. But Drivability wont be the greatest.

I don't think drivability would suffer. My 2150's drive just fine as do my 1120's. It's all a matter of the tune.

I was meaning drivability would suffer by running very low timing and large turbo high boost for strictly max hp If they stepped up in injector size to support that power. I believe the 850s using 94+meth will support any turbo that is appropriately sized to what those injectors can support while running running decent timing tables. Most of us have 91or 93. Already has a advantage with 94.

The trouble with E85 is about 4 stations have it nationwide in canada, none within a tank of gas of where I live, I'd prefer not to have to cross the boarder or ship my fuel. But I'd love to run E85 if I could have consisten access to it, maybe make it? Lol.

Thanks for all the replies guys, getting a better idea of what's what. The tuning shop here thought I'd be lucky to hit 400hp with 94, but other people say otherwise. I guess I'll just have to find out and see, could be that the gas gives me all I need. Will definitely update on any results in the future though.
