20 years... WTF

I've been so busy with different things that I completely spaced out on the fact that this site is 20 years old as of this month. The last DSM rolled off the assembly line in 1998, so the site hasn't been around as long as DSMs have, but I think it's worth celebrating the fact that it's still going pretty strong after all these years.

I still remember the early days when @larryd was here daily (he was our first moderator), sharing his progress on his gray 2g before he totaled it. Back when there was always some goofy drama between members in this forum and other DSM forums. We had @Defiant blowing up the leaderboard for posting stats (and tossing out lashings even when I asked him to tone it down). We've had countless great members spending WAY more time than they should here in the forum, racking up high post counts and making this place an awesome community to hang out in. Many have moved on to other cars and other hobbies. I really miss reading @Greg Collier's race recaps. We created several member calendars over the years. Lots of t-shirt designs. So many great friendships and businesses came out of this place. I'm honored to have been a part of all of it. We've had some awesome moderators who stepped up to keep this place organized, keep order, and perform a lot of thankless tasks to help keep things rolling along.

Thank you all for the time you've spent here, contributing to this community and helping me keep this thing going strong this whole time. I know it hasn't always been enjoyable for everyone. We've had times where the site was slow as hell, constantly crashing. There were disputes with moderators being too heavy handed (or not enough). Software changes aren't always welcomed by everyone. Some people have never been a fan of how I've run the site. We've had a lot of challenges over the years, and yet, we still have a decent number of members who have been here nearly the whole time, and still visit/post today. That's saying something. The flow of information has slowed down some obviously, as it has with nearly all forums - hell, most of the other DSM forums are gone now. But we still get great traction (pun intended) for a car platform that's been out of production for over 20 years.

Special thanks to all the supporting vendors and supporting members, who help pay the costs to maintain, update, upgrade, and repair this site and the servers it's lived on over the years, as well as develop new features that members here use daily. Vendors like @extremepsi and @Fuel Injector Clinic have been supporting our site since damn near the beginning. Without the help of them and all the other supporting vendors, I don't think we'd still be around today. Be sure to thank those vendors for their support of our site when you order from them.

I've always been drawn to this platform. I haven't pushed my cars to the extremes that some of the legends in our community have. But I've tried to push the platform and make a positive impact in other ways through this website. It really hit home when I was browsing through the early Vehicle Profiles the other day. We have SO MUCH information, photos, mod lists, and other data stored here, it's insane. I hope it's helped the majority of DSMers out there in some way.

Again, thank you. I'm working on some special edition anniversary shirt designs. I'll announce those as soon as they're ready.

:hellyeah:

20 years can sound like a long time. But once it has passed, you realize it felt like the blink of an eye. And you get to look back and dwell on the greatness you created. The newest DSM is 23 years old. Yet we still own them, drive them, race them, collect them... Old habits die hard. In this case, VERY hard. Hopefully every generation after us will have at least a few DSM lovers. But that's something we'll never get to see, and neither is the death of the DSM community.
DSM'ers. Together. Strong.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed your knowledge over the years. I really wish the site was as technical as it used to be when we had vendors fighting to prove their products and people really giving technical input to their setups, but I’m just glad I can still log in regularly and see the community alive.

Congratulations Chris!

Thank you for creating a place for us all to come together and share ideas/help one another. This is by far, the most well organized and clear cut online community that I have ever been part of.

Happy to be here with you all.
Much love.

Yay 20 years I've been on since 2007 almost daily. Love the website and platform I've learned so much about my abilities, and the cars and have made some very close friends even local. Pldsm to help me with my engine Marty and Tony just to name a few, Josh felt le nice to meet Chris, gofer, Eric, Brian and Paul volk . Keep the dsm alive

Congratulations to you Chris for having the foresight to see what a valuable resource this is for DSM owners. Thanks for sticking with it through all of the member and vendor drama. Yes, this is by far one of the easiest to use, best organized automotive forums. Without DSM Tuners, I'm afraid we would be referring to our early DSMs as "cars we used to have." Keep up the good work. I'm glad that members are stepping up with content and a helping hand to help our group of "automotive misfits", a.k.a. DSM owners.

This is an extremely impressive milestone you deserve to be proud of, Chris! You've certainly built something special here and it's continued success is evidence of your dedication and hard work to provide a user-friendly resource where people of all skill levels can come in, participate, and continue to learn each and every day.

Hats off to you, sir!

Its crazy to think next year will be almost 20 years since I've been a part of this site. I still remember posting my first posts when I had my first DSM, and still realize how much of a newb I was LOL BUT if it weren't for this site, I wouldn't be as knowledgeable and wise with these cars as I am today....and I'm still learning new things also. Thanks Chris for keeping it around this long. I've been a moderator for a few forums, they are all dead and gone...but THIS one has stayed. Even through a few of the updates and changes people would whine about....the real die hards stay and deal with the adversity. Cheers to 20 more!!🍻

HAS IT REALLY BEEN THAT LONG?! S’pose it really has! Been a lurker for 19.5 years and man, I never would’ve done anything I did without this forum. Just a bunch of good people giving their knowledge away for free. Can remember going to the library to print off how-to’s and various threads, and riding my bicycle home to take the advice for my own car. Crazy.

Thanks a ton for starting the forum and keeping it going after all this time, Chris. Twenty whole years feels like just yesterday and also a five hundred years at the same time. Big, massive congratulations!!! so many forums have come and gone, yet this one is still here and we are all so grateful.

And a huge thanks to all the members who have spent an enormous amount of time typing up and sharing the things they’ve learned over the years. Your contributions have not gone unnoticed by so many of us. Even after all this time, my wiseman husband and I still find ourselves referencing many threads when working on our own stuff!

Cheers to 20 more <3

Thank YOU for all of your hard work Chris! Without you, this place wouldn't exist. I am very lucky to be part of such a great group of fellow hobby car enthusiasts with such a great knowledge base.

I don't recall my other username, but I joined this site back in 2003-2004 when I got my first Eagle Talon Esi LOL.

Been nice to see this site grow into it's current form the last two decades!
